I just ended up climbing on top of the rock formation near his camp and crouching down and stabbing him from just beyond his reach.

i'm loving these long-distance one shot kills with sneak+bow/arrow. i think i'm having more fun playing this way then i did with my first character of "in-your-face hack and slash." 1/10/2012 9:08:28 AM |

every single level up i've had has been used to increase magicka
my perks have been used for destruction, restoration, and conjuration (in that order)
i wear robes that increase my magicka and double my regen time; the only armor i wear are gauntlets and boots (i wear one of the masks instead of a helmet)
i have never used a companion, just conjure atronachs
i love this game

anyone installed the "deadly dragons" mod? http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3829
the fact that at level 22 (yes, only level 22), i can beat the shit out of any dragon seems...wrong
looks like the mod does a couple of things, including making more types of dragons and giving them the ability to fight back instead of sitting there and taking it like pussies
if you're ballsy, you can install it using "hard" and make them immune to impact 1/12/2012 4:17:49 PM |

I believe the time between him giving you the quest and you doing a few things to complete the quest, you can tell him to stop following you, and eventually be able to ask him to re-follow you if you want
he's worth trying though since he's invincible, and constantly pisses you off by running into you
you can find him by either going to the main gate of Falkreath and talking to the gate guard, who tells you to talk to the blacksmith, who gives you some raw meat to lure him to the road...then he's not far outside the town...also supposedly if you carry around raw meat long enough he'll show up...and at first he runs at you, so don't accidentally shout him down! although i guess it wouldnt kill him, it might make him hostile, i dunno

How about this? Press F5 ... Profit 1/13/2012 10:20:54 AM |

not on a pc.
but, i'll be ditty boppin' around and it'll autosave plenty of times, but when i come back after dying it'll be several autosaves previous. most of the time the last major area i left.
forgive me if they're not called spawn points. not down with the vernacular. either way, if it's like a 15 minute walk from where i just died, seems pretty dumb.
i'm not going to go into the menu and save before every time i fight something.

I know what you are talking about... it seems strange to me that it doesn't auto save when you 'discover' an area/cave/etc assuming there are no enemies around. 1/13/2012 10:30:10 AM |

for those who have played the Archer class, how is your character set up for Magica/Health/Stamina? 1/13/2012 11:21:06 AM |
AndyMac All American 31922 Posts user info edit post |
Are you doing anything with magicka?
Pure archers would generally just put most points into health IMO with the occasional point into stamina. You don't need too much stamina, jsut enough to do the zoom/slow time thing.

Oh wow. I didn't realize that the consoles don't have a quick-save option. That's really unpleasant. For the PC it makes sense to not auto-save all the time since you can always quick-save, but I guess that's a bigger deal for consoles.
In terms of speccing Magicka/Health/Stamina, I think most people dump most of the points into Health for all builds. I could see melee wanting extra in Stamina for more power attacks, though they are the ones that might want Health the most as well. Magicka is an odd-ball because if you are a caster you will want it early on, but later there are perks and enchants to really lessen the need. (Case in point I have a friend with a character that casts all Restoration spells for free and he never put a single point in Magicka.1/13/2012 12:57:15 PM |
quagmire02 All American 44225 Posts user info edit post |
isn't there a save-every-##-minutes setting? i thought there was, and the default was 15 or something...i just assumed it was the same on the consoles 1/13/2012 1:00:11 PM |

i'm doing very little with Magica: some occasional flames or healing. i have only put a few level-ups into Magica, the rest have been in Health and Stamina. Just unsure if i should concentrate solely on Health going forward. 1/13/2012 1:11:32 PM |

I did the Azura's Star mission and ended up getting the Black Star cause I heard it was better than Azura's Star
can you use it on infinte weapons or only one? says it never breaks, but I didn't know if I'd have to destroy a weapon to use it on another or something? or can and should i enchant everything using it? 1/13/2012 10:51:48 PM |
ThePeter TWW CHAMPION 37709 Posts user info edit post |
It never breaks, you can create as many enchantments as many times as you can fill it. The gem becomes empty after using the soul 1/13/2012 11:01:15 PM |
AndyMac All American 31922 Posts user info edit post |
There's a bug with the black star that lets it absorb monster souls as well as NPC souls. So in one way that makes it incredibly versatile but in another way that makes it annoying since you'll absorb some lame mudcrab soul without knowing it and won't be able to get a black soul.
But in case anyone didn't know, if you accidentaly trapped a weak soul in a large soul gem, you can drop the soul gem on the ground, pick it up again, and it will be empty. 1/13/2012 11:24:17 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148438 Posts user info edit post |
so if you enchant a weapon that has say, 250 strikes of a certain enchantment before it needs recharging, its the weapon itself that is being recharged, not the soul gem? the soul gem is destroyed normally when you use it to enchant a weapon but with this one, i'll never need to use a petty soul gem again? provided i can keep filling it 1/13/2012 11:26:39 PM |
