Generally I would eat frozen chicken breast and rice for dinner or some kind of pasta with some cheap premade sauce. I would eat rice all the time. For lunch I would eat a HT sub. That is cheap eating right there.

I have very little patience and liked to eat as quickly and cheaply as possible. This is what I am changing. I get scared that I am going to slice my finger off because I hate cutting stuff up and try to do it real fast.

When I was really feeling crappy this winter I would get fast food for dinner or lunch every now and then. Huge no-no and I knew it.

^^ I would recommend thawing and/or cooking the chicken breast, as opposed to eating the frozen variety.

But for real I think I had some autoimmune problem this winter and did not feel rested when I woke up. It felt like I had mono. This could have been from a variety of things including diet, drinking, lack of exercise, and other things. I started taking Vitamin D3 supplements and fish oil and doing p90x. I also stopped drinking as much of my beloved craft beers, lowered my carb intake, and started eating higher quality foods (eating paleo). I feel much better now even with the pollen out.

My body is a picky little bitch and I have to be very good to it in order to feel normal.

I have recently changed my eating habits... The main part is that I have just drastically cut down on the amount of food I eat (averaging between 1000 and 1200 calories a day, which I know is pretty low, but not terribly so.) and cut out things like refined sugars and carbs. (not going no carb... just trying to eat "better" carbs and foods with a lower glycemic index.)

I have a lot to lose still, but in the past 4 1/2 weeks i've lost about 25 pounds. my short term goal is another 25 by June.

I still take fridays and off for beer, wings, partyin, and fun fun fun fun, and it does set me back a few pounds each week, but it's worth it to me to not completely deprive myself.

I've also started going back to the gym regularly... not doing anything specific... sticking to the elliptical and treadmill mostly with weights every other workout.

I've debated posting in this thread because it's a fairly personal thing, but i figure this could be a good support system, especially when i start to slack off.

It's getting warm over here in Budapest, so I can start wearing short-sleeve shirts.

Looked in my reflection of a store window yesterday and was wearing a black polo shirt after work and I realized that working out and dieting is paying off. Also realized I'm very close to being 1/2 way through my Power 90 workouts. After I'm done with these, I plan on doing P90 Master Series for about 45 days, then moving on to P90X.

I'm stoked about all this. My goal is to be under 200 lbs by my wedding (preferably 185) on July 23.

I'm 216 right now. My heaviest was 250, but when I purposely started trying to lose weight on (uhhh...) Feb 21 (?), I weighed 235.

It's definitely a possibility, I'm just started to slow down a lot. I've upped the workout in the last week and a half though, and it's tarting to make a difference. I feel like all the inches are coming off in places that I don't measure though.

Regardless, I know that if I continue doing what I'm doing and watching my diet (caloric deficit, logging EVERYTHING, nothin special), then the inches and lbs will continue to come off. It's already a noticeable difference. I've not weighed around 215 for three years. Fiance's never seen me under 200. Wedding day's gonna be awesome.

ok so here are some updates...

March 8, 2011

Weight: 184lbs

Body Fat %: 21%

April 8th, 2001

Weight: 178 lbs

Body Fat %: 17%

so i'm making progress but not as fast as i would like. i honestly think its due to my drinking but i'm not willing to give that up yet. i think i may get a bit more strict on my diet and look into some supplements.

my goal is 12% body fat which i'm thinking should put me somewhere around 165 lbs. another month and a half or so it will be shirt optional weather so i want to be ready for that.

Dude your neck is so much smaller!

Way to go. I'd love to be around 17% body fat.

Do you do anything specific to cut down on that? Because I'm doing the diet and the exercise and I've only lost a couple percentages so far. (Granted we're using a Livestrong-measure-two-parts-on-your-body website)

i have some progress pics i took this morning but i also have a question for ya'll......
bear with me as i try to ask (is an awkward quetion, bc i kinda know the answer but...well, you'll see)

so when it comes to fat loss i know you cannot spot train. you have to lose fat everywhere in order to lose it in your trouble zones.
well my trouble zones are definitely saddlebags. my thighs are crazy!
i'm starting to drop a few pounds now and almost all of it is coming from my upper body....if i keep up at this rate my upper body is going to be a toothpick
and this is not the first time its happened.
even at my lightest weight years ago i still have some thighs on me
so i guess my question is....is there a possibility that i don't lose fat all over b/c of genetics? it's getting ridiculous because whether i weight 130 or 150 (or have bf of 19 or 25%) i still wear the same size pants.....

Are you sure you don't have mostly muscle in your thighs? I know my thighs are pretty much the same size at 195 lbs as they were at 333 lbs. That used to bother me, but these days I realize I just have boss legs...

^no shit.

i pretty much posted the same question on there as i did here and some chick quickly came to the conclusion that i dont work out and am starving myself (wtf?!@?!?)

i tried to explain that i am happy with myself but theres always room for improvement and she told me i need professional help. heh.

that will be the last time i do that.

anyway, here are some progress pics

[Edited on April 9, 2011 at 10:20 AM. Reason : i needsa more muscle. im looking scawny (but man i dont want my thighs getting much bigger ahahah) ]

Lookin pretty good Joie! Get on a basic strength program 2-3x a week and do conditioning 1-3x a week and you can keep up the progress. With proper nutrition of course!

To answer your question... The stubborn spots will be the last to go. That doesn't mean you'll have zero fat in the upper body before you loose it in the thighs, but it will be close.

You may want to look in to supplementing with yohimbine (sp?) hcl it's supposed to help mobilize stubborn fat. Especially for females.

Are you on birth control? That will hinder fat loss.

Squat day:

Squat 225x3, 275x1, 325x2x3, 275x6
Rack Pull 225/275/315/365/405x5
Box Jumps and Depth Jumps
Glute Dominate Back Ext. 5x10
Shrugs 5x10
Abs

Hopefully I don't gain any fat from this beer festival today!

i see

i am not on bc.

and i will look into yohimbine! we actually learned about that last semester (but it's effects on blood pressure not fat loss )

and thank you for actually answering my question.
i'm really really turned off right now by the responses i got on that site!

i do NOT have an eating disorder.
i DO work out.
i am happy with myself!
(however i probably do NOT eat enough protein....ahaha its a work in progress )

Joie, your thighs are muscle. From the side profile your quad rounds out nicely above you knee, and your hamstring takes that nice dip in heading downwards as well. If you want to change the shape of them I wouldn't do any leg presses, squats, or lunges because obviously they will just add muscle. Do some interval cardio to purge the tiny tiny bit of fat left on your body and it will fix itself.

you have a square jaw... and that tells me you have a higher testosterone level than most women do.

which means you have lots of muscle mass. (which is so obvious, duh)

your legs are pretty much pure muscle.

if you put your heart into it, you could get pretty freaky muscly!

(ftr, square jaws on women (but not too square) look attractive to me, as long as the face and body are good looking, so i don't mean it as an insult when i say that you have a square jawline)

Do you supplement with protein powder? I have to to keep myself anywhere near 35% of daily calories from protein (I'm visiting my mom right now and didn't bring it and I'm at a wimpy 20%). Good stuff is pretty tasty too, I look forward to my breakfast protein shake.

I like Double Rich Chocolate (Optimum Nutrition) since it's even good in just water. Cake Batter is supposed to be amazing, but it only tastes good with milk to me because it's sweeeeeeet.
