yes. it can be safer for the rider if done correctly. you dont have to worry about getting rear ended at a red light.

It's a rolling 2-step (I can do it on mine.. it's tied in with my clutch button )

then it's no-lift-shifting (basically hitting the soft rev limiter: no fuel cut, retard to zero)

torque at speed = down shift your 7 speed in the vette.

the only thing the vette would lose at is amount of squat, and weight distribution for towing...

Lets face it half the reason big trucks tow so well is their long wheel base and heavy weight... neither does the vette have...
