So what you are saying is: "Buy gold."

recent inflation data showed inflation was slowing...

but i wonder how long this run up will last before people start worrying about the credit situation again

Ultimately I think today might bode bad for everyone. It feels like a political pressure overreaction.

But being self-centered today I love the world.

and the hits just keep on coming...

i'm going to get out of some of my long dated stuff (don't know exactly what yet --
already dumped MS for a nice gain this morning)

20/20 tells me i sold FCX, BHP, PTR, RIMM, and CHL way too early. oh well.

already chasing BIDU again. there seems to be a lot of call activity in it despite it already being frothy.

also chasing JRJC, and possibly CMED. hit new highs and may tank, but will cost average in if/when it tanks.

VMW up a good bit, along with GOOG ( ).
I think I might pick up some CSCO. Picked up 10 shares at $32.38 just to see what happens.

Damn the Canadian dollar is about equal with the real dollar now. It used to be like 1.30 to 1. That premium used to be nice when going to Niagara Falls or Toronto.

Is anybody in any Canadian stocks? The only one I'm monitoring right now is POT.

"as American as apple pie Dubai"

atleast it rhymes... it almost seems to reason that the first words out of US focused financial leaders would be "alternative fuels"

everything's been on a tear. despite the vix being low, don't be so greedy that you forget to take profits altogether. nobody went broke by securing profits.

so we're definitely in or near a bubble, but we could still see several months of momentum:

http://www.cnanalyst.com/ytd_ranking/index.html

after the bubble bursts (sometime around the Beijing olympics), it will be like 2000-2002 all over again, and the subsequent rebound will occur over the following 2-5 years.

i'm not sure they all have to increase decrease at once, i just think they have to be in agreement (by majority or plurality -- i don't know) on how much they allow to be taken from the ground by any particular country. i think this time around they agreed Saudi (particularly Aramco) would increase production.

Cisco is cranking on all cylinders and the market is just catching on.

almost at a full monetization point with JRJC. took speculative positions in CPSL and SVA before close yesterday. i'm saying little mantras to keep them from collapsing.

Bank of America (BAC) has been on a downtrend since October of 2006. Could be a good buying opportunity.
They might not be a huge growth stock, but I feel they have potential to go up. As an added bonus their dividend is $2.56/share, which is currently ~5% ROI. Not too bad.

How often are dividends paid?

Depends on the stock. Looks like BAC does them once every quarter. Other companies, such as Disney, only pay out once per year.
Small dividends such as Disney's piss me off -- what's the point of a dividend that has a 0.9% yield? If it's that small it might as well not exist.

So you get 1/4 the dividend every quarter?
