^^ tell me thats a joke
aside from his probably not being a great WR, it would be nice to have a backup QB that you dont have to worry about breaking a collarbone by going over the middle on 3rd and 6 8/22/2008 4:29:51 PM |

Weren't we just argueing 2 days ago about his lack of footspeed? Sure you aren't thinking about his brother or something? 8/22/2008 4:31:35 PM |

yah evans is slow if i recall. his bro is a decent wr tho. relatively speaking of course 8/22/2008 4:33:03 PM |

well you just lost top wr so you're already shallow at wr and who knows the routes/offense better than evans? wr surely isn't only about speed or else all colleges just have the track team play it. there are nfl wrs that run 4.8 evans is like 4.7 plus you can run trick plays.

I feel OK about DeAndre, J.C., and Gray as DBs. But Justin Byers is going to get thrown at all game long and Im not sure how I feel about that..... 8/22/2008 4:35:21 PM |

Boldin and Patrick Crayton come to mind as "slower" NFL WRs. I'm not saying they run 4.8, but I know Boldin is not a 4.4 guy. Crayton has always been tabbed as too slow even though he did well last year with TO/Romo.8/22/2008 4:52:00 PM |

Things to know about Wilson
Redshirt freshman Russell Wilson was named N.C. State's starting quarterback on Friday afternoon. Here are five things you should know about him as he prepares to start the season opener Aug. 28 at South Carolina:
1. He has athletic blood lines. Patenal grandfather Harrison Wilson Jr. played baseball and basketball at Kentucky State. Father Harrison III played football and baseball at Dartmouth and spent a brief time with the San Diego Chargers. Brother Harrison IV played baseball and football at Richmond and played at N.C. State in the 2004 season opener won by the Wolfpack 42-0. Harrison's most memorable moment that day was being hurdled by future No. 1 draft pick Mario Williams, who raced into the backfield to make a tackle on the first series of the game.
2. He attended football camp at North Carolina. Charlie McFall, Wilson's high school coach at the Collegiate School in Richmond, Va., said North Carolina (Mike Paulus), Virginia (Peter Lalich) and Virginia Tech (Tyrod Taylor) all had highly regarded quarterbacks they'd promised scholarships and were afraid of losing if they offered Wilson a scholarship. Then Wilson became enamored with N.C. State. "Russell loved the facilities at State, and it was close to home," McFall said.
3. He's already been featured in Sports Illustrated. The "Faces in the Crowd" section profiled him after he threw for 291 yards and ran for 223 more in a state championship win. 4. As he came off the practice field Thursday evening, Wilson had "John 10:9" written in marker on athletic tape wrapped around his left wrist. According to the Bible the N&O's A.J. Carr keeps on his desk, that scripture reads: "I am the door, and the person who enters through me will be saved and will be able to come in and go out and find pasture." (I'm not a big religious person, but that is pretty awesome. Perhaps Wilson will save our program and elevate it for Glennon to then follow and take it to a level it's never seen before .)
5. He was one of the team's most popular hosts for winter recruiting visits. "I'm not going to take you to a wild club or anything like that where you'll get into trouble," he said in January. "I'm going to take you places where you'll see people you need to see. See other football players. See basketball players. See guys and girls. Not surround you with bad things." 8/22/2008 9:50:38 PM |

Casual football fans tend to think that you have to be super fast to play wr but in reality you just have to be able to run routes and catch footballs. Being a qb, evans knows every route like the back of the quarterbacks perspective. Speed comes in with running deep routes and yac yards but that only accounts for a ~10% of passing yards in football if you think about it most of the stuff is bang bang tackled. Evans has very strong ankle ligaments and that would go a long way in making nice crisp cuts on his routes to get open. I'm not saying its certain but don't be surprised and calling me names isn't going to get anywhere. Its the internet. You're bad. I get it. 8/23/2008 1:43:19 AM |

He made sure Fowler could hear his friendly boasting. “You know N.C. State is a better program, when you talk about a prestigious program like N.C. State, we kind of look past Duke and Carolina. The only school that really gave us a challenge is Wake Forest, so I kind of give the most respect to Eric King. But definitely N.C. State is the prestigious program of the group.”" |

^^ I'll be 10 rows in front of you. Even though the band won't be there Sec. 508 will be hearing the NC State Fight Song, Red & White Song, and the NC State Alma Mater playing from my new LG Dare phone.
I just played NC State vs. South Carolina on NCAA Football. I played it on the difficulty level just under Heisman (All-American?). I beat them 49-10.
Check out the stat line for Russell Wilson and Andre Brown: Wilson QB rating: 271.3 10-13 passing 246 yards passing 2 passing TDs 1 INT (it wasn't really his fault the WR couldn't bring the ball in as he got hit and the ball went way into the air and a LB caught it right before it hit the ground) 76% comp percentage Avg. 18.9 yards per attempt (it's really thrown out of proportion though b/c of a 94 yard pass play) 1 sack (way to go o-line) long of 94 yards (this was a funny play where I was on my own 6 yard line and just threw it to one of my WRs who shook off two tacklers as they converged on him at the same time and he scooted all the down the field for a TD)
Brown 137 yards rushing 4.7 ypc 3 TD long of 36 yards 83 yards after first hit 4 broken tackles
