That's funny.

We're not the ones who want to expel all non-Whites from the United States.

We're not the ones who preached segregation until the late 70s.

We're not the ones who want to relegate homosexuals to second class citizens.

Who is the hate machine, again?

I watched Special Report with Bret Baier today and... wow... I actually have to say there was some good honest discussion going on.

Of course it helped that 2 out of the 3 contributors were none other than Maura Liasson and Juan Williams from National Public Radio...

but keep it up, Bret.

This is the shit that tears me up about the current controlling regime of the GOP. Sarah Palin espouses nothing more than garden variety conservative talking points. And she doesn't do what I'd label a stellar job of it. She's a pretty face.

She's also probably the reason the wheels fell off the McCain campaign bus. Why does she still get a voice? It isn't because she is saying anything new or even in a way that gets us moderates to swing back to the right.

It's to the point now where I wonder if some powerful Wall Street interests (read GE, GS, etc) are pushing her and this type of politics because they know it will continue to fail time and time again with those of us sitting in the middle, thus pushing elections to the left who are apparently more sympathetic to Wall Street interests than we could have ever imagined.

Because people will watch her, and Fox News is in business to make money.

I would wager that the rise of Fox is why the republicans have such low approval ratings despite the democrats ratings.

Rupert Murdoch said once that if it was proven to be more popular, he would totally make Fox News a liberal news channel overnight.

Why else does PBS news have such low ratings? or NPR even? Why aren’t there more prime-time shows like Meet the Press (under Russert)?

Fox is appealing because of their boisterous style and attention-deficit friendly graphics.

Indeed, there is no more riveting TV than meet the press. That's also why things like Crossfire and the McGlaughlin group are/were a ratings bonanza.

Anybody watch 60 minutes? Pretty damning stuff from mccain's senior campaign strategist

Quote :
"
Among their revelations is how McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis, spotted Sarah Palin while searching the Internet for possible female vice presidential candidates.

...

"In terms of vetting, was there enough time to do the kind of vetting you would have liked?" Cooper asked.

"I'm not going to second guess the process," Schmidt replied.

The process, according to the authors, was so rushed the background check was little more than one lawyer searching the Internet; no one went to Alaska.

"I wasn't the vetter on the campaign," Schmidt pointed out.

"Early on, though, you apparently said, 'She doesn't know anything,'" Cooper remarked.

"In the immediate aftermath of her selection, it was clear to us that we had a lot of work to do," Schmidt said.
...

Schmidt told us about a recurring problem later in the general election the campaign had with Sarah Palin: "There were numerous instances that she said things that were not accurate that ultimately, the campaign had to deal with. And that opened the door to criticism that she was being untruthful and inaccurate. And I think that that is something that continues to this day."

Schmidt said he thinks it is fair criticism.

After an ethics investigation of Palin, when the Alaska legislature issued a report, Schmidt says she mischaracterized that report. "She went out and said that, you know, 'This report completely exonerates me.' And in fact, it didn't. You know, it's the equivalent of saying down is up and up is down. It was provably, demonstrably untrue," he told Cooper.

And Schmidt said it just kept happening. "Stuff like the Alaska Independence Party that her husband had been a member of for seven years. She wanted to put out a statement saying that he was not a member of it. He was a member of it," he said.
"

well if nothing else it would provide some nice entertainment. though id imagine her immediate political career is toast since she's a big fat quitter, so you probably have nothing to worry about.

it'll be interesting to see how scripted her appearances on Fox are, and how much she'll be speaking freely.

Extremely high considering:

-Most highly educated individuals are Atheistic
-About 25% of people the US identify themselves as nonreligious or Atheists
-Only one person in Congress is openly Atheist: Pete Stark.

Probably a lot of people are. And there's a good chance all of the past Presidents were genuinely religious.

I'm just saying there are probably a lot more Atheists in Congress than we think.
