I don't know any way to say this that doesn't sound bad, so here goes:

I have about a half-dozen girls on my FB feed that I retain just to laugh at them and keep myself reminded of the depths of stupidity and uselessness of many people.

that isn't meant to be a misogynistic comment; I just don't have any dudes on my FB like that. I don't know if dudes are just less inclined to post about magic and life-force, or Food Babe, or a 24/7 play-by-play of what their fucking cats are looking at or doing, or how terrible their life is because of [trivial problem] even though they don't work or do anything else useful and just get tended to by some poor dumbfuck husband.

I would say that there are just as many analogous dudes out there and I just have never paid them any attention, due to the fact that at no point have I ever considered sleeping with any of them and I otherwise have no use for or interest in them...

...but I have a handful of kinda dumbass male friends on there, and they just post a bunch of half-truth crap about Obama, and videos of people busting their asses and stuff (which is funny. Don't think for a second that I'm above slapstick!), and at least sometimes they post things that are interesting.

Has anyone else observed this? I don't think it's confirmation bias; I don't think that women are dumber than men or anything.

I, too, have women on my Facebook doing basically what you said, some of them do that and combine it with lame political memes or bogus articles, which can also be fun to laugh at when you think people actually eat that up... I think men also tend to be (as far as I can tell from my feed) more reserved overall and share less about themselves and either post something about guns, farting, or people doing dumb she where a lot, not all, women complain about their life, post their drama, and their cats

Aside from the spelling and grammar, the comment itself tells us that they have not read anything more than a superficial summary of the charges against Peterson. If you can look at the pictures of his four year old son, taken a week after that beating, you would know it wasn't a "spanking."

This particular bit of stupidity is fairly specific to women; I can't say I've seen any dudes babbling about essential oils. That's not my fault. Plus, if anything, I feel like it's explicitly non-sexist because of my clear disdain for the husbands of these women, too, due to their close association with and tolerance of stupidity.


(There are things I like about Pensacola, but my lifelong lack of patience for dumbasses has gotten severely aggravated since moving back here. Seriously, I have felt myself become more of an asshole in response to the stupidity I'm surrounded by in this area.)

the thing about the salute is that you're not supposed to have anything in the saluting hand whilst saluting.

So yes, while W's salute in the pic above looks awkward, its correct; and saluting with coffee in the hand doing the saluting is incorrect.

It may seem weird and insignificant to those who weren't in the military, but its something you're taught. That the salute is important and a sign of respect.

I do think there are more things about Obama to get mad about other than the salute though.

you can totally fuck up a salute to a subordinate; i find that I often render a better salute in return than the one initiated by the subordinate (less so on Marine bases; the majority of the time here on a Navy base. Marines will salute your fucking car as you drive by...as an officer, you're driving around saluting while driving, haha.

President Obama fucking up a salute is not that big of a deal because (a) he's a civilian and only returns salutes to begin with due to tradition established by President Reagan, not any sort of actual obligation...and (b) it's a salute, he's the President, there are bigger things to worry about.


My opinion is that I don't care if the President salutes or not. I think it's a good gesture due to his role as CiC, but whatever. I do think that if you're going to do it, fucking do it right. However, I really don't give a shit. It's like #1,000,000 on my list of things to give a shit about.

I am surprised that his handles/aides/staff haven't coached him better, though.
