if you truly believe this, you're a very special individual
I mean you obviously believe it all, but that's a real whopper
and if you can't see how Ryan is attempting to imply that it was Obama's failed policies that are the cause of the GM plant being closed, then I don't know what to tell you

^^We lost our credit rating over debt. Without the debt we wouldnt even be talking about a plan to deal with it. Which was the second part of why we lost our rating. Our debt is only going to get bigger.
But where is the LIE? I keep seeing "fact checkers" saying he is lying about that. Fact checkers say Obama visited in 2008, so he wasnt in charge. No shit, hell Ryan says CANDIDATE OBAMA...
In case you missed it the first time:
"A lot of guys I went to high school with worked at that GM plant. Right there at that plant, candidate Obama said: “I believe that if our government is there to support you … this plant will be here for another hundred years.” That’s what he said in 2008. Well, as it turned out, that plant didn’t last another year. It is locked up and empty to this day. And that’s how it is in so many towns today, where the recovery that was promised is nowhere in sight."
This goes along with a theme of being disappointed in Obama. How millions voted for him bc they thought he was a reformer and believed the BS he was saying. Like about cutting the deficit in half. I take it you didnt watch the whole thing. 8/30/2012 12:58:12 PM |

I wonder what would have happened to the credit rating if the debt ceiling wasn't raised and we just defaulted on everything. 8/30/2012 1:09:54 PM |

The rating agency straight up came out and said our credit rating reduction was because of the Republican brinksmanship.
It wasn't because of the debt. We've had debt for years and years, and we're still no where near as bad as the other countries. It was the partisan politics.
^^ Are you actually sorry that plant closed? Under your ideas, that plant would have closed, and many other plants would have closed. Austerity measures don't stop depressions or increase the jobs, they cause massive job losses for the sake of a black ledger and nothing more.

Look, whether who want to blame the debt or the debt ceiling fight, there is no realistic way you can pin it on Obama. Which is our whole point. Ryan's entire speech was based in a fantasy world that doesn't exist, where everything is Obama's fault.

He also can't go back in time and stop Bush from invading Afghanistan/Iraq or passing the tax cuts. That chart figures in interest being paid on debt from those policies. There is absolutely nothing Obama could have done about it, other than just not pay (hence the debt ceiling fight). 8/30/2012 1:38:26 PM |

^Wars end, but you could end them sooner. If you think we are 16T in debt because of bush tax rates and the 2 wars you need to read a bit more.

Do you think that we would keep a stellar credit rating if we kept on increasing the debt ceiling? Or at some point do you think our ability to pay for the actual debt comes into play?8/30/2012 1:52:05 PM |

Uh, nothing has happened so far. Despite the downgrade, US debt is still being bought up like hot cakes. The interest rate on 10 year notes is still below target. Inflation is slowing, not speeding up. That 16T dollar debt figure doesn't mean dick. It's nothing but an absolute value of how much money we're printing. It's like saying "well, you weigh 200 pounds, so you must be fat and unhealthy", without taking into account BMI, cholesterol, and glucose. It's an excuse for the GOP to slash entitlement spending, nothing more. 8/30/2012 2:01:09 PM |

Right. So a default would have made things better. Because that's what we all should do when we have too much debt is stop paying on it. Don't you guys piss on underwater homeowners for doing the same shit? 8/30/2012 2:03:21 PM |

I know it's hard to believe that there's a network that actually gives both sides a voice, rather than just all Liberals all the time like most of them. Her name is Sally Kohn, a frothing liberal that Fox asked to write a response on the Paul Ryan speech.
The Mainstream Media is so far unfairly biased towards the left, that the only network that is pretty much dead center gets bashed as the "OMFG SO REPUBLICAN BIASED" news source.8/30/2012 3:25:54 PM |

I don't understand how Republicans get away with pretending that the GOP has been all about fiscal conservatism when in office. Reagan is touted as this great government slasher, but the size of the government grew by over 60% when he was President. Same with Bush. 8/30/2012 3:33:19 PM |

The graph is misleading... is it taking into fact the large # of GOP debates, etc?
I mean, I bet when GW Bush was seeking re-election in 2004 that more Dems were interviewed, especially considering the Democratic debates.
The media overall is biased... to say there isn't any bias is being obtuse. Took a course at UNC that was eye opening in terms of studying the language most media use in the US compared to other countries. US media overall uses a large amount of "emotional" language rather than neutral fact language. Fox News and MSNBC are garbage IMO... I'd rather be presented the news as facts... not an op-ed presented as news. 8/30/2012 6:26:10 PM |

I just want to say, I really fucking hate Condoleezza Rice. The one good thing I can say about most of Bush's administration is that they've had the common human decency to stay hidden under a rock since leaving office. Not her though. She's out there giving speeches and interviews saying she has no regrets and even criticizing Obama's foreign policy. Really? After presiding over 8 years of catastrophic foreign policy you'd think a little humility would be in order. She's a criminal piece of shit that should be sitting in a jail cell waiting for the chair, not advising anyone on anything. 8/31/2012 2:36:18 PM |
