Good news, Roy Williams is an absolute shit coach...he has an effective system and wins with that system, as long as he has an ELITE point guard. He can't make in game adjustments. Bill Self has the edge, Kansas just has to stop playing like ass

CJ Williams did not play enough

For some reason Gottfried took him out in favor of Alex Johnson right after he made a pretty amazing shot.

CJ Leslie tried to force the ball too much.

Scott Wood did not get enough open threes. He is totally capable of taking over a game but that did not happen tonight.

All that is way different than saying I'm not proud of them, but I don't think they quite reached their full potential. I wish Wood would have canned that 3 to take the lead, then we all would be happy again.

LOL, I am pretty sure we could fill this thread with people who thought we wouldn't even make the tourney. The guys played well, the officiating was consistent both ways whether you like to admit it or not, Kansas was the better team.

The whole team forced the ball too much. It was verging on panic scrambles when we couldn't make anything happen inside. There was no swagger and confidence like the previous games.

He looked gassed for a lot of the second half, he's still too streaky to really be a game changer. When he missed about three decent looks in a row it was pretty obvious nothing good was going to come of him except when Kansas bafflingly kept bailing him out with fouls.

Howell forced the ball too much. Every Howell play should have been a pass out to a shooter or swing to setup Leslie. Leslie probably could have passed out more, but he really was saving our asses for the most part.


We need more shooters, though. Replacing Williams with Purvis should help, and Brown is going to be shooting 3 pointers all summer.

Sweet 16 is not that far. We'll be back soon (2-3 years max) but this run just had such a team of destiny feel that I really thought we would win at the end and be able to knock out UNC for the final four.

With this team, we had a final 4 talent squad. Next year, we should be better. I expected sweet 16 with lowe and it never happened.

I don't think you can call my post a "fail" when I expect us to be better. For the last 5 years we had the talent to get this far, but never did. Good for Gott, I look forward to next year, but I'm not over this year yet.

We have actually severely underachieved with the talent we have had over the years because of bad coaching.

With all the 5 and 4 star players along with McDonald all americans we have had, we should have achieved more. Just because Duke and UNC have loaded rosters doesn't mean you can't at least make the tourney with the rosters we had.

We are actually an outlier in terms of failure given the number of McDonald all americans that we have (http://statsheet.com/bhsb/mcplayers_by_college).

Likewise, plenty of mid major and major conference teams have done more with lesser talent.

This year, we finally achieved what we should have achieved with our talent.

People just have a really warped view of what we need because of UNC and Duke and because of years of bad coaching under Herb and Lowe.

Very valid points, but it does take a season or two to weed out the shit habits, discipline and end game mentality. We can only get better next year! This time for real LOL!
