So another 40 point duke loss then haha. Great story but this goes to show how weak the coastal division is.

NC game and Stanford game looking forward to.

Other 3 BCS games not very appealing and could be blowouts.

Say what you will about Ohio St but they usually do a lot better job of scheduling non conference opponents than most of SEC teams.

Just from my memory, OSU has traded games with USC, Texas, Cal, and Miami in the past few years. I think they had Vanderbilt scheduled this year but vandy backed out at last minute.

Check out Auburn's nonconference game schedule

2013
08/31 - Washington State
09/07 - Arkansas State
10/12 - Western Carolina
10/26 - Florida Atlantic

2014
09/06 - San Jose State
09/20 - at Kansas State
09/27 - Louisiana Tech
11/22 - Samford

2015
09/05 - Louisville (at Atlanta, GA)
09/12 - Jacksonville State
09/19 - Idaho
10/03 - San Jose State

the point is that ohio SHOULD schedule those texas, usc, Miami games... because the big ten in fact does suck. but they don't schedule OOC like that lately and that is why they deserve to be shit on constantly.

auburn doesn't need to put anymore power on their SOS

The Big Ten doesn't suck. They are no different than the SEC, or any other league. Most schools in all of the BCS leagues are about the same. The difference right now is Alabama has been dominating so much that it is making the SEC look better than they are. There are plenty of teams in the SEC each year that finish with between 7 to 9 wins.

^Yeah, FSU sucks and Florida was an all world beater this year just like Arkansas, and Georgia who lost to Clemson. And who can forget Kentucky, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Mississippi State who had to win their last game to even make a bowl! Of course Arkansas could have traveled to Ohio State this year and won 100 to 0 because they are from the SEC right?

Oh and lets not forget, Baylor, Oregon, Wisconsin, and Stanford all suck too because they aren't from the SEC. They would have no chance against Kentucky!

THIS YEAR, the sec IS down

but its tough to say the SEC gets all its hype from Alabama, when other SEC West schools like Auburn and LSU have won titles over the last few years

they won the last 7 national titles in football, and it was 4 different schools who won...hard to call it a one school conference

^Yeah I know about the diversity over the past 7 years and if you want to do the 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2, etc then you can say they are the best, but in reality they are no different than any other league. Each year they have a good team just like the rest of the leagues and then you go down the line and discover that they have .500 teams that lost some OOC games and even have teams with losing records. It isn't 14 teams all ranked #1 in the nation, yet people act like it is nothing but a conference of top 5 teams.

when 4 teams from the SEC win national titles in the last 7 years, and zero teams from any other conference win titles, i really don't see how you can say they're just as good as any other conference...the Big Ten is on par with the ACC, minus the powerhouse team at the top this year

^I'm not disagreeing with you there, I am just saying they are no different than any other league. They have shitty teams too. They aren't all good.

Also, I wouldn't say the SEC is down this year. They have a lot of good teams and shitty teams. They all just placed differently in the standings this season.

^Alabama not winning the league doesn't make it a down year. There is nothing wrong with turning a program around in one season. Iowa went from bottom of the Big Ten to co-champion in one years time about 10 years ago. It happens everywhere.

this went from a scheduling discussion to big ten vs. sec???

back on topic with strength of scheduling.

teams from anywhere but SEC in my opinion need at least one strong/respectable non conference opponent to receive any tiebreaker consideration going forward, maybe even 2.

I don't think SEC teams are by any means invincible to other conferences' teams in any head to head,,, but just talking about the body of work throughout the season going forward, other BCS conferences need to start considering scheduling stronger non conference games.

1 and 2 should be no brainers for the +1 system, but I think 3-8ish are all going to have probably 1 loss... better have a strong schedule if you want the 3 or 4 spot.

^I too would like to see schools in every league schedule a little better OOC. The problem is one loss will still hurt a team really badly with only 4 spots in the playoff, so teams like Alabama and Ohio State will continue to schedule weak OOC opponents.

Anyway, we have a long way to go before the BCS bowls and next season. For now, all I have to say is GO ARMY! BEAT NAVY!

Its really only the SEC West that is so good they don''t need to schedule anyone. All of the teams in the east have scheduled good opponents outside of conference. Most of them are locked in rivalry games with acc teams.

SEC west has 4 great teams. Thats 3 top 10 games just in your diivision That is insane. SEC east is no different than any other division.

[Edited on December 9, 2013 at 1:34 AM. Reason : auburn played 5 teams that were in the top 10 this year]

B4C needs to stick with being a creeper and leave college football to the men. The SEC is head and shoulders better than every other conference over the past decade and it is not even close. Hell South Carolina would have probably won the league title in every other conference this year (save ACC due to FSU), but since they play in the SEC, they are the 4th best team.

The amount of talent on SEC teams is just ridiculous. Even a team like Georgia that is playing 3rd string RBs and 4th and 5th string WRs had Auburn beat before that miracle tip play. No other league can claim that type of depth.

IMO, the SEC has had 2-3 of the top 5 teams in the country the last several years, and are the best conference going. However, I don't think the gap is THAT big between them and Pac-12, B1G, and Big 12. I think the success that TA&M and Mizz have had in their first 2 years in the SEC do a good job of demonstrating that.

First team is good because of Johnny Football (and partially Evans). Their defense is putrid. Without him...they struggle to reach .500 the last two years. Mizzou is good...and I like their coach. But they are also in the weak SEC division...they didn't play LSU or Alabama...and only got Auburn in the title game (which they lost).

Just don't think that's a solid argument.

fair points, and I'm not using that as my only means of measurement, but I think those 2 teams (at least partially) dispel the "team X would have 4-5 losses in the SEC" argument.

Yeah Missouri winning the east was about like Duke winning the coastal. The schedule worked out and they didn't have to play the best teams from the other division. If duke has to play Clemson or FSU they don't win that division.

I'm disappointed the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s and Famous Idaho Potato bowls don't give out beef and potatoes. At least the Chick Fil A and Outback bowls give out giftcards to their restaurants.

nothing says "bowl swag" like handing a 20 year old kid a 15 pound sack of potatoes or a rump roast
