Yeah it's fucking ridiculous. You don't drop charges on someone you have dead to rights unless they're going to turn on a bigger fish. If you've got them you get them to plead guilty or testify for leniency in the sentencing.

why is this a problem? i'm all for seeing the charges dropped if through cooperating he provides information that unquestionably links the fraud within AFAM to keeping athletes eligible. i would assume the DA wouldn't drop the charges in return for providing info that merely confirms what we already know.

Don't get excited they'll just use this as an excuse to say they already know everything and use this to close the case.

i won't hope for anything more than laughable until somebody gets involved that isn't either on UNCCH*'s payroll or an alumnus. the NCAA is only interested in looking like they're doing something.. they're just going to the one place to truly learn how to do that.

But I’d reiterate that the NCAA is returning based on #UNC’s request that Wainstein share info. They’re again trying to right past wrongs.

from personal experience a lot of ECU football fans are Duke basketball fans because they can't stand Carolina in football

that's kinda sad. their own school sucks so bad at sports they have to realign themselves with schools that aren't even in the same conference? weak.

I would agree, if the investigation in which he was cooperating was a criminal investigation. It's not, which is why this is a blatant case of UNC-homerism affecting the judicial system.

Willingham suing for whistle blower retaliation.

Quote :
"Derek Medlin @DerekMedlin · 4m
Willingham claims UNC retaliated against her for her public comments on academics. (breaking)

Willingham said she was demoted in rank and title in July 2013. She also says she was reassigned to substandard office space and equipment.

Willingham says she had to follow procedures that other employees did not have to follow pertaining to PTO and sick leave, etc.

Lawsuit: "As a direct result of UNC's acts of reprisal, Willingham has sustained harms, losses and other damages."

Willingham says UNC "constructively terminated her employment by taking the adverse employment actions against her.""

Inside Carolina weighs in:
Quote :
"Also, how does the NCAA pick and choose the schools it investigates? Why have they not gotten involved in the Oklahoma State football scandal reported by SI last year? Why not the allegations of academic fraud reported on at Auburn within the last year? I just don't get it sometimes."

since those were both reported last year, maybe in another few years after multiple investigations and witnesses the NCAA will investigate those as well

or, alternatively, someone should point out that the NCAA did "investigate" both of those like they "investigated" the claims at UNC. The NCAA is only back at UNC now because of new witnesses and 3rd party investigations at UNC, something that is not present (yet?) at Auburn and Oklahoma State.

Hadn't seen this statement before. If true, what do we need to do to get someone on how gross a misuse of public funds has been going on over there.
