rice has the protein that completes what's missing in beans

and if meat were the godly, irreplaceable substance you make it out to be, the millions of vegetarians in the US would suffering from poor health, rather than enjoying significantly lower rates of heart disease and other ailments

The part about rice completing the chain is true; however, you will not eat enough to make this a substantial source--w/out loading up on the carbs. Inefficient for weight loss? yes.

Lower rates that who? The average lazy ingnorant fat ass couch patatoe american ?

If so yes.

Healthier and lower rates than compared to the athletic trianing inshape people? I would suspect no. However, there is no way to tell. The medical researchers and media only focus on BMI and other nonsense.

I agree that it's probably due to better overall health habits and more exercise

but in the developed world there's no epidemic of vegetarians losing their hair or becoming malnourished or showing other symptoms of protein deficiency. In fact, there are plenty of elite athletes who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet. a diet without meat is not prohibitive of an active lifestyle, the same way a diet with meat doesn't mean you will be a thickburger eating couch potato

meh, i think following a diet that evolution has shaped us for is better than artificially limiting it...

Yeah I hear ya Kiwi- I have kept off the 17 lbs I lost when I was dieting from Jan-May this year.

In January 2008- I am back to working out and eating healthy. Gotta lose 15 more to be the super skinny bride. Yay! I have 9 months to lose 15 lbs. Not too bad.

Good luck grrrl!

^combo of both

huge factor-i stoppped eating when i want hungry
HUGE!
and i was a gym RAT for a while

however....i've stopped going until mid febuary-ish as a promise to cody and a few friends (i was about 125 in that pic, i'm about 115-188ish now, and i dropped to 105-110 a few weeks ago....it was gross. )

but once you get your mind set to it

pretty easy

^^ my new place has a gym with a laundry room attached, and ive specifically decided not to move a washer and dryer into my place So im forced to go work out while i do my laundry.

i figure since i know 5 people that live here too, ill just tell them to plan their laundry on different nights and ill go watch it and it'll make me work out.

Also, living on the third floor really changes your mindset on grocery shopping. lol

You look great though joie! i'm hoping to accomplish maybe the same.

actually, i had an eating disorder for 2 years. My freshman year of highschool i weighed something close to 89-90 lbs and wore limited too jeans because juniors and womens were too big.

its pretty gross how skinny i was looking back on it.

this past christmas i went shopping for myself (i do it for my grandma and she wraps it up) and had to go to limited too this year for skirts and pants (although they were too short)

aka one of the other reasons im breaking from the gym and quitting watching my diet until mid feb
being a 12 in little girls is gross and creepy

buuuuttt what ryan???

you look great!!!

blasphemour - thanks

pttyndal - 1 pound per day is not atypical of a ketogenic diet. you only sustain it for around 30 days +/- a few days.

i am motivating myself slowly but surely into working out again. i get addicted once i do it, its just getting there that fiiiirst time that sucks. i have been wearing my work out leggings around my house. then today i bought new socks and sports bras. tomorrow is gym day. ultimate goal would be 20lbs but actual goal is like 10-15.

For you girls-I've honestly wondered is it more of an incentive or a deterrent when more guys are working out with you, either in the gym or running laps, whatever. Personally, I always found it to be better when there's fewer girls, so I can concentrate more on just getting my exercises knocked out.

haha that statement was not intended to insinuate that i'd ever have sex with you

^ i like the gym better w/ less people in general. the more crowded it is the more deterred i am. i think guys are only a deterrent for me (personally) in the weight room. i don't care as far as cardio

I want to loose 20 more. but thats not important I really just want to tone up after 3 months away from the gym due to school and coming home.

^ same. it isn't really the poundage that is important to me. its just getting healthy and toned. and the fact that my really expensive jeans are starting to get too small MAY have something to do with it. i can't really afford a new wardrobe. plus i feel like buying new clothes when you get fat is how people become the one ton man. first its a size 8, 10, 20 then its like only things with elastic waistbands, then its just bedsheets. and then you get your own discovery health special

[Edited on January 7, 2008 at 10:29 PM. Reason : or 1/2 ton man. whatever he is]

honestly i'm to the point where i can eat cici's every 10 days and a few other things i consider unhealthy and wont change...my problem is also getting toned...i lifted for 3 months like july, august, september...got to 180...stopped and plummeted like 17 pounds...its quite sad...

I've gained but I'm maintaining, I knew I wouldn't continue to lose in the winter, it's like fat is a freaking magnet during the colder months. I'm going back to the gym this week to get addicted again, yay!

As far as diet goes I would cut meat out completely, and try taking Fish Oil in addition to your multi vitamin
