Originally I was going to go to this game, sit right behind the Rags bench and just chant "FAGAHAN!!!" the entire game.

Sam Rosen has been mispronouncing Kaberle's name wrong all game.

Or maybe he's pronouncing it right and no one else in the history of the NHL has ever done that before.

Really, it's hard to tell.

My favorite thing about Lundqvist is that after he makes a save, he never has any clue where the rebound is.

It'd be hilarious to watch if it weren't for how uneasy it made me feel.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. Turns out Ron the Ref can't count. They had this contest at intermission where two people each had like 20 pucks lined up along the blue line and whoever shot the most into the goal wins. The first girl shoots in 9, so the second guy is shooting and he has scored 5 with 4 pucks remaining. Ron says "he has to get all 4 of these". He gets one. "Oohh there's 6". He misses one. He gets another. "Oohh there's 8." Wat. Guy wins the game due to Ron the Ref not knowing how to count to 9.

Brookbank got absolutely TORQUED by Orr when he tried to switch hands in the first fight, and when Orr got to the box after the second "fight," he looked at Brookbank and pointed at his own face and its lack of any marks at all.

LOL.

Kudos to the Canes for completely neutralizing Avery after he came back in the second, though I suppose it's mission accomplished for him since he got Timmy booted.

Hamilton on waivers?

according to Eklund (yeah, I know, he's a dumbshit), this is true.
Quote :
"First off Jeff Hamilton and Maxim Kondratiev have been placed on waivers by their respective teams, Carolina and Anahiem."

we're pinching pennies. this will save us, what, $200k if someone picks him up?

put letowski at the 4th line center spot and call up nolan

interesting. i liked hamilton, but he really has been nothing but a defensive liability since november. we have only had 2 shootouts also so he hasnt had too much time to prove what an asset he could be in that regard

^^^ They don't list it as diving any more, just like they don't make distinctions between neutral zone obstruction penalties and o-/d-zone obstruction penalties (hooking vs. obstruction hooking).

^ It's very obvious that Brookbank needs to dress every night, even if he is going to get handed his lunch a good portion of the time. Hamilton has been awful on the PP point and that was his main job, so I don't really care what they do with him. I'd rather have the energy of Aucoin or the physicality of Nolan up here anyway.

N&O:

Hamilton clears waivers

Jeff Hamilton cleared waivers at noon today. The Canes can now assign him to Albany (AHL) at some point in the next 10 games or 30 days without having to put him through waivers again.

More likely, they'll send him down and call him up to put him on re-entry waivers, where it's more likely he'll be claimed.

Still, after this morning's practice, Canes coach Peter Laviolette said Hamilton could play in tonight's game against the Leafs. Hamilton did not skate this morning.

"I think a lot of Jeff's points came on the power play," Laviolette said. "He's having a hard time getting in the lineup right now. Putting him on waivers is an opportunity for him to possibly go to another organization and get playing time. We're not using him in that situation right now.

"I also want to say that there's still a lot of confidence in Jeff. He's going to get a lot more opportunities if he remains here after noon today — it could be as early as tonight — to show what he can do with those opportunities. He needs to make the most of them."
