No clue what it means either. It's obviously not a percentage. And it can't be the raw number of damage negated. Makes gear selection really misleading.

up to 36 and nightmare with the hardcore toon.

Me and a buddy have been leveling these together and we had some disconnect scares (as scary as you can get at level 36) last night.

1st one he just disconnected but there were no monsters around so he was fine.

2nd time was in a confined cave fighting a rare and its minions. He disconnected standing in a poison pool with the rare hitting him (he is a WD, so squishy).

I had to run around getting healthglobes to keep his health up until I could kill the rare and make the poison pool disappear.

We decided to quit while we were ahead after that

For resists? You can see the damage mitigation in details.

In terms of Inferno, ~200-300 Resists will make you pretty durable (relatively speaking) as ranged in Act1. You can drop your hp a lot, if you get higher armor and resist pieces.

Yeah the resists are a percent, I think if you hover your mouse over them it will tell you in your player details.

Apparently I read that the physical/armor damage mitigation only applies when mobs are your level or lower, something like that. So in the inferno that mitigation is much less important because all the mobs are higher level so your resist matters way more than in earlier stages. I don't have the exact quote on it, but it was something that basically was saying resists are more important in inferno than armor which is helpful earlier.

yeah im having a hard time letting go of all my HP for resists, just cuz im so used to stacking it and armor in earlier difficulties.

barb was at about 40k hp with no resists. gotten up to around 150-200 resists only dropping 3k or so hp, so i call that a win for now. only done inferno act1 once or so.

Got my best AH sell for an item I found last night. 1,275,000 felt nice to send to stash. I think it was an amulet with + DMG, high crit chance, high crit dmg, and a socket. I know the AH history tells the name of the item you sold, but I really wish it would show the items (or at least show it before you send to stash) so I know exactly what sold. These random names aren't helping.

The AH market is a mess right now, hard to make money on it at the moment. It was easy just working 1 and 2 handed weapons which I did for a while. But the market is flooded with them now so not selling as fast.

As far as resist goes made a few more purchases to get up to around 600-700 resists. I should be able to finish act 2 now, less to do with being difficult more to do with just being boring/annoying. Don't like the desert thing and the sand temples.

I'm in the middle of Act 2 inferno with my monk now, and it's slow-going. I use the monk passive that sets all resists equal to your highest resist, so I have a few pieces with both physical resist and all resists that stack; that definitely helps me out, but Act 2 is still a beast. Gotta keep gearing up.

Also, apparently life steal is worthless; there is a hidden scaling penalty by difficulty level that reduces its effectiveness by 80% in inferno. Go with life on hit instead, which doesn't get penalized. I didn't realize that and wondered why life steal wasn't helping much anymore, but some of the lead designers did an AMAA on reddit the other day and that came up.

There is a vague trend on the AH where prices rise steadily starting at 5pm on weekdays then fall during the early morning. I suppose people log on and start buying things, then put up their auctions when they sign off for the night.

I found prices to be highest on Friday and Saturday, then lowest Monday morning.

I take it back. I only got geared out enough to get halfway through act 2. If I rolled any other class I'd probably already be onto act 3, maybe act 4. WD is a piece of garbage.

that crap is powerful. I was using the rune that heals you before i switched to sidearm, and holy cow...those axes do some major damage. The spiders on the way to azmodan in act 3 were just getting ruined.

Pretty interesting read on the blizzard forum about a dude in china running computers/bots. He is making 4 mil an hour farming the blacksmith's wife? Not sure what that is. They also run programs that scan fan websites for email address and then use those to try to hack them. I guess a certain percent of people probably do things like use their email as their password, or use "password" or 1234 or whatever and if you have a bot doing that if you are able to run a thousands of them when they do hit they go in and take all the items. He was streaming on youtube and I think you can still watch the video.

I thought the most amusing one was the thorns run in the butcher. Area. This guy stacked like 3-4k thorns and life regen with the templar pet. He went and stood afk between the two vents that constantly spawns monsters and left his acct. Afk for like aan hour. He came back to 200k gold 8 bkues and 3 rares

Is it worthwhile to try to maximize critical chance and damage or just to go all in on DPS?

I got my level 33 barb up to 23.5% critical chance and +175% critical damage, but I'm sacrificing a few hundred damage by using an emerald and the best critical chance weapon I can find rather than a ruby and the best overall DPS weapon I can find.

I'm trying to understand why this is favored instead of the rune that give +4% damage per stack of frenzy. But I see it used by almost all the Act II/III/IV Barbs, so I'm guess I'm going to have to go with it.

Thinking about switching out Rend for Leap/Iron Impact too.

i switched from iron impact to charge with the heal. Worth it for those elites that trap you or if you need a heal on diablo.

I was using rend but switched that out to ignore pain or whatever. I was skeptical at first of ignore pain because of the dps loss but you almost need for act 4 hell.

Finished Hell with my barbarian and was getting pretty bored of the game so I decided to start a DH character and I am thoroughly impressed with how much more fun the DH is. I have always been a barbarian fan but the DH kicks ass.

^^ at the very least that helps when you are in the middle of fighting some elite/champ mob and some guy joins ur game and then idles in town for 10 minutes and then u just get 1 shot over and over.

Grouping up should be helpful or at least the same, not a handicap which it was previously. If you got a guy in your group that sucked it just made it so much harder.

the problem i've had with grouping is that when you have 4 people, people have difficulty staying together as a pack, so you find yourself alone with a pack of mobs.

I've been doing Act 3 siegebreaker inferno runs... got a lot of good drops so far. if you are DH, it's a joke. I have just above average gear and am sitting with 112k DPS. I roll thru Act 3 inferno and then kill siegebreaker in like 30 minutes a run.

got 3 1400+ 2h DPS weapons saturday
