tchenku...
you play with e85 at all? i bet you could come close to 500 on that (damned fuel requirements go through the roof... cause you need 25% more fuel just to make that much more power... then 30% more fuel... because e85 doesn't have the same energy content as gasoline and self oxidizes) 10/3/2012 12:32:36 PM |

^^i can't throw any more fuel (err, I don't want to try). I'm only running 780cc injectors. I'd go water injection and add some timing, if anything

Of course radiator.com calls me today saying they don't carry the radiator I ordered anymore.
Well could have fooled me; it says "in stock."

Had to replace the brake light switch in my altima. Can't even start the car if that shit goes bad. With the push button starting system you have to apply the brake and since it was crapping out on me, sometimes I had a heck of time getting it started. Seems like a bad design to me. 10/4/2012 3:12:16 PM |

Good design. Keeps people from driving around without brake lights. 10/4/2012 3:18:55 PM |

not really. the brake light can still be burned out and as long as the brake switch closes the car will start. 10/4/2012 3:23:52 PM |

two years of using a de-powered steering rack has finally come to a close. back to the grand life of power steering, though i'm not looking forward to the inevitable fluid leaks.

no manual rack available? 10/5/2012 7:59:08 PM |
jawhitak Veteran 328 Posts user info edit post |
not any free ones! taking the stock one apart and depowering it was much cheaper than buying some aftermarket rack and modifying things to make it fit.
it was fun while it lasted, but power steering is so much better as long as the hoses don't leak. 10/5/2012 8:43:37 PM |

^ Lol, is that someone at your office or just random internet?
New 12mm spacers arrived for the front, got my rear fenders rolled, and put on my new wheels/tires for the first time tonight. Haven't had much time to drive on them, but feels amazing so far. Light weight 17x9 wheels with 255/40/R17 Dunlop Star Specs all around now
HUGE upgrade from 17x8.5 wheels (6 lbs heavier each) with 225/45/R17 front and 245/40/R17 rear 420 treadwear Kumho all-weather tires of unknown age, heh.
Pics to come, too dark at the moment unfortunately. 10/10/2012 8:35:31 PM |

that particular event is held at Piedmont dragway in Julian NC, but there are other events we attend in the VA/NC/SC area.
i have an SR. stock longblock, dbb s15 turbo, 525cc injectors, n62 maf, JWT tune.
chris (camera car in that vid) is KA-T. built twin-cam, precision 5431, 550cc injectors, n62 maf, EFI Specialist tune (for now, but he just got his MegaSquirt kit in the mail, so that's gonna happen soon). 10/12/2012 3:57:59 PM |

Quick question for you guys
Going to finally work on putting the top end of the s2000 back together tomorrow. What should I do to clean out the bottom end from the random dirt/gunk that may have gotten into the block while the head was off? Should I run anything in it for a few hundred miles or just do a quick oil change interval?

Changed the oil in the S2000 and Integra this weekend. Let them both drain overnight, which resulted in a LOT more oil coming out of the S2000 than previous changes. Took 6 quarts to get to the "full" hash mark on the dip stick in the S (factory issued manual says capacity is 4.5 quarts). Integra took about 5 quarts itself.
Also checked the S2000's brakes. Inner front passenger pad only has around 2-3 mm left so I will probably replace the fronts in 1-2 months. One of the rear pads wasn't wearing evenly so I made sure to lubricate all the slide pins. Hopefully it is as simple as that. 10/15/2012 10:04:31 AM |

^ overkill, but i guess it's fine if you have the time/patience to do that, haha
no more rubbing at full lock AND being able to reach the coils, knuckles, brakes, brake bleeders, etc by just popping the hood...
it's pretty sweet.
i'm gonna make liners/covers this weekend to keep pebbles and rainwater out.

I've got 2 cars so it's no big deal. I also let the Integra drain over night as well (different night) but the long drain time had no effect on how much oil that car could take. Go figure 10/16/2012 8:22:18 AM |

Replaced the rear trailing arm bushings in the M3, huge pain in the ass, the tool I ordered to press the new bushings in broke (threaded rod snapped), the tool I built from Lowes all-thread and pipe caps also broke (threads on the rod stripped), ugggh. Ended up pounding the left bushing in with a hammer, got it most of the way there...about 3/16ths of the metal shroud exposed instead of the 1/16th on the original bushings that were still in there.
Also installed a limiter kit that is supposed to prevent wear on the RTAB's, so maybe that will counteract the damage I did getting them installed and give me a regular lifetime lol. Haven't had it aligned yet, but the wheels seem to line up fine (camber-wise) despite the slight different in where the RTAB's are sitting. If the alignment shop can't get it in spec to where I want it, I guess I'll take it to a shop and have them redo the RTAB's...luckily it's a fairly cheap part.
Shot of the new wheels & tires:
