just a few days ago SAF was saying he had 'no plans' to retire. also, i'd be really surprised if when he retires it happened like this. i will admit that i'm nervous though.

Damn, if Fergie retires, United will be just another big club like Chelsea, Arsenal or Madrid. We'll experience the same frustration and emotion that a normal soccer fan faces. We'll fall off our perch one day. Soon. And it will suck...

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/arsenal-agree-puma-kit-deal-1874661

looks like arsenal might be going with puma kits after next year. thats going to be interesting, but hope the money brings in some world class players and keeps quality players on the squad.

The new Arsenal kit deal is good for them. Also @blanks in terms of Sir Alex's retirement. I expect it will be a surprise announcement. Not this year but sometime in the next 2 or 3. I don't think we will get a definitive time line. Wenger will probably do the same. These two have so much passion for the game that they probably will mull over it for a while in private and announce it kind of abruptly. I just hope we get an Arsenal vs United title race before both of them call it quits! Those were some great races!

I mean, what in the world could it be but SAF's retirement

Man U are a big enough club, with big enough concerns, that they're not going to schedule a special press conference for anything short of the earth-shattering

maybe Man U has been purchased by some new company, or it's some similar high-level and very huge change...but Fergie's retirement seems overwhelmingly the most likely answer

Because three days ago Sir Alex said he had something special with this squad and he wasn't thinking about retirement. His recent statements contradict him leaving. Unless his health massively deteriorated in the last 3 days, it just seems unlikely. But I agree, the fact that no one from our press office has said anything in the last 12 hours is worrying. It may very well be that Sir Alex is retiring but it may also be something else regarding corporate policy or governance. I am convinced it isn't about player transfers and the press conference will certainly have something to do with our future. I guess at the end of the day I am just in denial and I really hope its not Sir Alex retiring.

Well, I still can't believe it. I can't even go to sleep anymore. Just shocked really. Its like a relative or someone very close to me has died. Its just a feeling of emptiness. This man embodied Manchester United. I grew up with his Manchester United. I was at the Stretford End watching him command that team like the very best of generals do during wartime. Its like my world has come crashing down. The title celebrations are going to be bittersweet.

Moyes widely speculated as the next manager. I feel indifferent about this. He has the potential to be a long term manager but how much success he can achieve is yet to be seen. I will give him 3 years, and unless a lot of players leave we better be in the top 4 all of those 3 years.

Mourinho? Benitez might need a job before next season begins. I can't see Fergie leaving ManU before there's a surefire replacement.

That would be HILARIOUS.

I don't know how I feel about Moyes being at United. Everton are definitely going to fall off if that's true. But I can't say he's managed the kind of personalities at Everton as he would if he moves. Although there are lots of similarities in the culture of the clubs, just Everton is much smaller.

"SAF retiring"

"Who?"

Now that SAF's gone, I can fully embrace my new United fandom and not feel like a bandwagoner. Plus, I already know all the songs. Hell yeah.

Klinsmann's first order of business will be to drop Wayne and add Ronaldo.
