why where the UT coaches allowed to run on the court with time left on the clock?
3/17/2026 11:59:54 PM
Just a miserable game to watch with the two terrible offensive performances and the terrible crew
3/18/2026 12:00:00 AM
Held them to 36% FGs, 29% 3PT. Won turnover battle. But we missed layups and didn’t rebound and fouled way too fucking much. Don’t enjoy shitting on the team and players but I’m glad I don’t have to watch this team again this year. A very not fun team
3/18/2026 12:00:47 AM
No way they should've gotten that one timeout off though
3/18/2026 12:02:30 AM
I'm pretty sure the dude in the front court was calling timeout as soon as the trap got the guy.
3/18/2026 12:04:00 AM
They played better in the last 3 games but disappointing end to the season. Was hoping we could at least pull out the play in game.
3/18/2026 12:05:32 AM
A miserable game with like 4 possessions of just incredible shots.
3/18/2026 12:06:13 AM
I mean...its hard to complain when we missed so many layups
3/18/2026 12:06:27 AM
just rewatched the last shot multiple timesUT assistant was on the court as the shot went inshoutout to our guy noticing immediately and pointing at him
3/18/2026 12:09:36 AM
Who wants to welcome this team back to the Dail Center???
3/18/2026 12:10:45 AM
3/18/2026 12:17:53 AM
There was a conference championship game that the bench ran onto the court after the game winning(? Tying? I dont remember) basket but there were 0.3 seconds left on the clock. The refs didn't call a technical foul and awarded a timeout to the other team instead. Refs are never going to call that if they don't actually interfere with the play.
3/18/2026 12:22:52 AM
we fucked ourselves by taking a timeout right afterinbound the ball as the coach is on the floor
3/18/2026 12:29:25 AM
I mean unless you like run into the guy they aren't going to call it. You're asking an awful lot of guys who are thinking about basketball and not nefarious plans to get a technical foul called on the other team in the span of like 2 seconds.]
3/18/2026 12:33:52 AM
there’s nothing nefarious about not taking a timeout thereyou’re overthinking it
3/18/2026 12:48:54 AM
Maybe nefarious is the wrong word, but it's insane to think that the players should have the wherewithal to inbounds the ball there and run into the coach in less than a second rather than call a timeout and also that the coach wouldn't call timeout to set up a play, thus preventing said insane scenario. You're overthinking this as well.]
3/18/2026 1:20:44 AM
You 100% take a timeout if you are actually trying to win the game
3/18/2026 1:43:24 AM
Remarkable that probably $45 million or so in NIL and operational budget was on the floor in that game.30+ games into the season and both teams made it look like a preseason invitational game.
3/18/2026 8:35:44 AM
NIT looking teams
3/18/2026 9:06:45 AM
Will McNeil, Able and Arcenaux return? What about Zymicah, Sagnia, Deng & Langdon? and Kontuniemi?
3/18/2026 9:12:18 AM
Need to prioritize PM and Able. Although could definitely see one leaving for more PT given they both play similar positions and don’t really play together on the court at the same time. Couldn’t care less about TA. Deng seems gone since he just redshirted halfway through the year. Not sure Colt or the Finnish guy are ever gonna be ACC caliber. Musa was disappointing. We could use his size and athleticism but even if we bring him back but he’s a reserve, not a starter. Could always use depth in the frontcourt. Wilkins seems a bit undersized and unathletic which are things we had too much of this year.
3/18/2026 9:35:35 AM
I was a little surprised Mr. NC Basketball didn't even see the court this year.
3/18/2026 9:38:32 AM
3/18/2026 9:40:33 AM
FUCK THESE LAST 10 GAMES WERE A SLOG.biggest frustration is the huge lack of hustle, and giving up when down big.
3/18/2026 10:25:06 AM
Last fourth (third?) of the season were a big disappointment, really everything after the UNC win. But at least they put (a little) more effort into this game. It was close and somewhat entertaining.

Would love to have McNeill and Able back. There has to be a way to get them both on the court at the same time. Other than those two, not sure if anyone will be back. Sagnia would be good to have back as a 3rd big man assuming he improves going into year two. Arceneaux is good on defense and rebounding but doesn't offer much at all on offense.
3/18/2026 12:23:41 PM
One thing about bringing Musa and TA back…whatever they were getting paid this year, they probably deserve less next year. Hard to argue they deserve more. So how do players take that, even if they want to be back. Seems like it would be hard to come back and take a pay cut, even if it’s a deserved cut. Easier to cut ties and move on for both sides.
3/18/2026 12:44:09 PM
McNeil needs to work on D, if he aint making 3s, it can be tough to watch.
3/18/2026 12:50:17 PM
^ 100% agreed. If we have to choose between them, I think Able is gonna get the Brinx truck and McNeil the bus ticket.^^ This is why I wish more of the pay info was public. Who knows what they're making relative to the market. We might have blown our load on Williams and the rest were getting paid peanuts. I would want them both back, but sure, if they are taking up a huge chunk of the total available pay, that's gonna be a problem.^^^^ LOL, why would we purposefully kick out three of our four development pieces (Sagnia/Kontuniemie/Langdon/Wilkins)? It isn't like we are going to go out and refill all ~15 spots with 5* guys. If they're willing to stay and develop for a reasonable amount of money, it would be to our benefit in the long run.[Edited on March 18, 2026 at 1:02 PM. Reason : .edits]
3/18/2026 12:54:12 PM
Because developmental pieces are for mid majors now. You don't sit a guy on the bench for 2-3 years hoping he'll contribute as a jr/sr. It's a waste of a roster space
3/18/2026 1:05:56 PM
That's one opinion. There aren't many consistently good teams that are completely restacking their roster every single year. And Wade has said before he plans to develop internally and not always have to get everything from the portal.[Edited on March 18, 2026 at 1:13 PM. Reason : .]
3/18/2026 1:13:13 PM
I’m guessing Able got paid more than McNeil for this season. McNeil had no real leverage to demand a high amount.
3/18/2026 1:28:28 PM
I would love for Wilkins to stick around. But it is alarming that he couldn't get playing time over Scottie fuckin Ebube. Good basketball players don't voluntarily take redshirt years. Langdon and the Finnish guy are practice bodies at best. Langdon has played 6 games in 2 years in college. He's not going to magically become a guy who can get rotation minutes on a good team. Musa is 23 already. He is probably not going to get leaps and bounds better. Breed apparently still has another year left (his freshman year was the free covid year!), but I hope he moves on because he is not good and Wade will absolutely play him too much next year if he's here. And yeah most schools now do replace a majority of their roster every single year. Maybe not 10+ guys, but 7-8 is incredibly common. Will Wade is not seriously committed to "developing internally" if he's only got two incoming freshmen knowing how many open scholarships he would have. He clearly intends to build mostly out of the portal. ]
3/18/2026 1:45:48 PM
Yeah. You can develop guys in the sense that they stick around for 2-3 years. But they also need to be able to contribute right away as a freshman if they fall into that category. Can’t afford to have dead weight and total projects on the roster. Theres a middle ground also. Not every player is a one year rental. I’m sure the staff had hoped Deng and/or TA would be multi year players. But they clearly don’t fit or suck. Theres certainly an alternate scenario where those guys are better and we’re excited to be returning maybe 4 or 5 guys.
3/18/2026 2:13:16 PM
Couldn't it just be the style of the coach? Perhaps Micah had the talent to play this season, but Wade's one of those coaches that only likes to play 7 or 8 guys, and he decided early that Mycah wouldn't be one of those guys this year, but will likely be one of them next year after a year of practicing?
3/18/2026 2:32:04 PM
I mean it was obvious very early on that post depth was atrocious. If Wilkins could have contributed, he should have. If Wade willingly held out a guy who would have made this team better, that's an incredible indictment of his coaching ability and moreso his ego.

3/18/2026 2:53:58 PM
Word is that Able will transfer so we are likely only returning McNeil/Cloer
3/18/2026 2:56:02 PM
Most good teams aren't bringing back a majority of their roster. It just doesn't happen now.
3/18/2026 2:58:55 PM
Might be misremembering but I thought Wade said pretty early on that Wilkins would redshirt. Probably a sign that he 1) sucks or 2) might have potential but was pretty obviously not ready
3/18/2026 3:10:50 PM
Stop changing your argument. Remember, you're arguing that good teams are kicking out any freshmen who weren't good enough to get minutes to replace them with transfers. You defended this by saying teams are losing 7-8 players to the transfer portal. That isn't true of most of the teams that are consistently good from year to year. They might lose that many total to graduation and transfers but their actual transfer out numbers are relatively low. They aren't wholesale kicking anyone that didn't get minutes off the roster every year.Since you're allergic to researching actual facts, I did a quick spot check of a half a dozen top 25 teams this year (excluding teams that had a new coach, e.g. UVA). The top transfer out number I found is UNC with 5. Incidentally, every single one of them played minutes last year. In other words, zero of their scout team/developmental/whatever you want to call it players left.

Oh damn, I forgot Breed is trying to get that extra year. Also, their analysis of Able and McNeil are completely opposite of what I expected. They act like McNeil is a must keep and that Able is the one with holes in his game. They even attack his lateral quickness?
