You're right, this isn't about keepers or any other fantasy issues. Why do you keep bringing up your fantasy team in a Rivers thread?
Nobody cares about your fantasy team, there's a thread about fantasy football if you want to talk about a certain player on your team. 10/23/2011 2:41:03 PM |

Jaybee wouldn't be so critical of Rivers if he had stayed local and played his college ball at Bama or Auburn, cause then he'd be an SECer and a real football player 10/23/2011 2:44:21 PM |

And yet, still nobody cares about your fantasy team.
Meanwhile, Rivers is 4-1 and has an 11 point halftime lead over the Jets, who have been a thorn in the Chargers side recently. 10/23/2011 2:45:13 PM |

^^ yeah, I am so critical that I kept him and just threw my money away for shits and giggles. And actually I wouldnt like him if he went to Auburn or Alabama.
^ the Chargers are 4-1. I'm sure if they were 0-5 it wouldn't be "Rivers is 0-5" would it?
you bitches are SO sensitive, its just retarded. Why cant I ask a totally legit question and have a real, objective, unbiased discussion? He obviously isnt playing as well this year, you cant deny that, and not just from a fantasy perspective. I simply asked why? They had WR and TE injuries last year and he was fine, he has played hurt before and was fine... o-line maybe? missing Sproles?

Well then I think it's probably injuries that have been getting to him more than they have before. There was a cheap shot by the Pats that ended up with a fine, I think he probably got hurt in that game and hasn't recovered. 10/23/2011 2:54:31 PM |

injury and not playing is not the same as playing and not playing good. Unless your keeper deadline was super early you had to know Manning could miss a lot of time potentially. You knew what to expect, therefore not a disappointment. Whereas a guy that started totally healthy, and had been a complete badass the last few years, who then goes out and plays shitty thus far, thats a disappointment.
^ what? That makes no sense. Unless you mean this is a "all POSITIVE things only about Philip Rivers Thread"

Ugh. That was an ugly game for Rivers. Make he needs to slow down on having kids (just had his 6th). He's looked extremely average (actually below average) this year. Chargers' defense, running game, and special teams actually playing well this year...Rivers has dropped the ball in their two losses. 10/23/2011 5:19:37 PM |

^^ I know you're quick to jump on here after a poor performance (yes I know you like him), and yes he played poorly today, but neither of the losses were completely on him. The defense made Mark frickin Sanchez look like Joe Montana today. And Jackson flat out dropped that first pick, which was by far the most important moment of the game, SD would have gotten at least a fg out of that possession and went up seven.
But even the staunchest Rivers' fanboys can't defend that pathetic two-minute drill to end the game. 10/23/2011 7:51:15 PM |

Patriots loss wasn't on him, but he was probably the biggest factor. That being said, he would have had to play lights out if they were to win that game.
Yesterday's loss falls squarely on his shoulders. All they had to do was score ONE touchdown on the 2nd half...just one. That 2 minute drill was one of the worst I've ever seen. I remarked to a couple guys at the bar that it looked like Philip might have been on the take. Two shorts passes to the check down guy in the middle of the field?? Are you serious?? Then throwing it out of bounds on 4th down??
Quote : | "And Jackson flat out dropped that first pick" |
I'm not going to make the argument again that half of every QB's picks are like this. So when it comes down to it, 2 picks are 2 picks. But the first one (which I don't think was Jackson), was thrown behind him and had too much zip on the ball. Should he have caught it? Probably....but Philip didn't help him. It was a simple pass that he throws perfect 99.9% of the time...but not yesterday. That 2nd pick was just a garbage throw.
I hate to see Philip play poor. I'm surrounded by Gamecock and Clemson fans down here in SC, and all I can point to in NC State football is Philip Rivers. But you have to call a spade a spade. Right now Philip Rivers is playing in the bottom third of the league amongst QBs.10/24/2011 8:47:56 AM |

Don't disagree about his playing badly. But, you said the loss was squarely on his shoulders without discounting what I said about how horrible SD's defense looked vs Sanchez. Oh well, the overall point we agree on is that Rivers' hasn't played up to his abilities so far this year, not even close. 10/24/2011 10:26:24 AM |

jbrick83 you're acting like this is the first QB this D made look ordinary.
In the Rex Ryan era here are the last super bowl MVPs to play the Jets in the reg season
Drew Brees - 20/32 190 yds 0td 0int 78.9 rating
Aaron Rodgers - 15/34 170 yds 0td 0int 59.7 rating
Yes, rivers has struggled this year but it's hard to blame him yesterday against THAT D.. 10/24/2011 12:35:21 PM |

^Ommmm...different years there Jets fanboy.
The Jets D has not looked that great at all this year. Their passing D has looked pretty good, but they still gave up 320 to Brady and 340 to Romo. Rivers is the only decent QB they've really shut down this year (Flacco is "meh"...and they didn't need him to perform well anyways).
They Jets are an average team at best. San Diego should have beaten them and Rivers played like shit...which is slightly above how well he's been playing all year.
