The Joker's voice sounded a lot like Richard Dreyfus.

Fuck the bat voice and Bale's boring acting style. Bring back Keaton or find someone I'd actually root for in the theater.. maybe Ed Norton.

For that matter if they are going to bring in brilliant actors like Depp and Hoffman then why spoil the villain category with a catwoman? I mean honestly women suck at that factor, look at the bitch in T3; thats one of the billion reasons that movie was terrible.

I'm sure someone pointed this out already, but they never really say Dent is dead. They just look down at his body which kind of looks dead and then hold the press conference later.

IMAX showing was great even though our seats were so-so.

Ed Norton as Batman??? HAHAHAH

He could never pull off Bruce Wayne, and his voice would drive me batshit. Batman's not douchey enough for Ed Norton.

Not nearly big enough to play Bruce Wayne.

Am I the only one who found myself thinking of the american psycho character when he was being the public Bruce Wayne? (esp. the "he goes around dressed as a bat......Clearly the man has issues (something to that effect))

You can notice the sound in that clip that announces the joker is coming or is played when the joker is around.

Its like an out of tune violin playing a single constant note. Its awesome to watch this movie multiple times. I never would have picked up on it if I hadn't gone back.

The sound also makes me imagine it as a representation of the Jokers mind. Like it represents that something isn't right with the Joker. That he is just off.

The very first scene of the clown on the corner getting picked up for the bank robbery has that sound playing, but only for him. Obviously its the joker getting picked up. But its nice to see that theme is played throughout the entire movie.

Just like Jaws

people that refer to him as 'creepy'

i guess my def. of creepy is more on the lines of 'causing fear' or 'requiring one to look slightly away' but i just cant use that term to describe the joker in this movie

not to me at least, unless they are just saying he would be 'creepy' to those that encounter him IN the movie then ok, but i dunno i ramble nevermind

I agree. I was never bothered by watching the joker. I have seen to much shit on the internet to get disturbed by the Joker. I could watch that scene over and over. His scenes were that enjoyable.

One thing that I havent read about.

All the mobs money is gone. 2 face killed the mobs boss.

Did this movie quietly get rid of the mob as being the main threat to Gotham in order to let the crazies take over?

What will be the mobs roll from now on? How does this transition take place in the comics?

personally, i dont really care about the mob

the same way i dont care about the 'good of gotham'

but it seems the mob would now be both scared of batman AND the joker-esque criminals that come to power

mostly to establish that

a) he didn't just get away (batman never catches him in batman begins)
b) batman needs a new suit
c) there are people dressing up as batman (for the later scene with joker, and at mayor richard alpert's)

He just made an appearance at the beginning with the mob dudes who were pissed that his drugs didn't work the way they wanted them to. I guess he was just there for a minute for continuity purposes, he wasn't really a part of the story.

Only 1/2 of their money is gone.

And it was fake money anyway.

I'm sure they will find a new leader.

Eh, maybe I misunderstood the ching-chang-chong speaking but I thought the crime bosses money was all counterfeit money from Hong Kong.

Maybe not though. But it was still only half of it that was burned.

[Edited on August 2, 2008 at 5:49 PM. Reason : I know it was irradiated, I figured they did that because it was fake. I dunno.]

It was irradiated by Batman so that he could track where it went.

I heard that the Jokers half of the money was on the bottom of that pile. And that the top half was the mobs. Joker sets his on fire and ends up burning it all.

I was taking it as he was destroying the entire mobs money supply, therefor ruining the mob.

THIS IS WHY I NEED TO SEE IT AGAIN!

you dont catch everything in the dialogue because its cut so fast,

"See, I'm a man of simple tastes. I like gunpowder... and dynamite... and gasoline! Do you know what all of these things have in common? They're cheap!" *burns mountain of money*

^^^it was pretty much the base launching point for everything in the movie if you track it back right.

It makes the cops pay attention and try to get the mob money from the 5 banks, which makes lau take the money to hong kong. Batman gets lau which makes the mob finally want the joker to kill batman. so the joker is like "take off your mask" and kills people and brings down dent eventually. I guess he could be also showing the mob that their plans are silly by robbing them.

that's what i'm thinking anyway.

the joker lies to everyone to get what he wants. Its hard to follow if the money was for setting up his plan VIA his henchmen or if he just wanted to get the mobs attention....

I breakdown of the plot would be fantastic as to exact intention and all that.

Fuck, I just want to see it again.

I'm sure he needed some of that money he stole at the beginning.

Gunpowder, dynamite, and gasoline are cheap. But they aren't free. Especially in the quantities used by Joker.

I liked batman better in this movie than in the last one. Bale does a great job with mastering the dual personalities of Wayne/THE batman. His voice, surprisingly, was not as bad as I thought that it would be.

I thought that Gordon was not as well played out in this movie, as he seems more of a power driven cop than he does a genuine guardian of the city.

The Joker was good. He was entertaining and scary, but he could have been more. I think that they missed place the times where he said "why so serious" and "let's put a smile on that face".

I also really loved how they started referring to batman as The Batman, like in some way Nolan is trying to let everyone know that he is doing it the right way.

I am sure it was talked about elsewhere in this thread but how exactly did they get the DNA off the bullet? I thought that they were saying that they shot a block of concrete with the same type of bullet and compared that impact to the impact in the piece that he cut out of the wall and the "difference" would be the finger print but that seemed really really impossible
