Lescott wont be fit in time for the WC anyway
we could always get Carragher to play again

It was an honest question, you say you'd rather have Neville than Carra at right back, why would you prefer Carra over him on the left?
if it were my decision, I'd play Milner there 2/12/2010 9:10:23 AM |
kiljadn All American 44690 Posts user info edit post |
isn't Carragher a CB?
I'd prefer to have a position player play at their position over a dude who's playing out of position any day of the week, but when you don't have a viable option for a LB or a RB you can play a CB there generally without too much harm.
so no, moving Neville to LB would be a dumb idea, but playing Carragher there would not.

McWinger03 All American 1055 Posts user info edit post |
I think if milner makes the team, he'll maybe see some time at right wing or left wing. maybe even cm I dunno. Who plays rm for england normally? lennon, beckham, swp and walcott? milner is better than all of them in my opinion but im not sure about how much he'll play. 2/12/2010 10:59:08 AM |

Milner would probably play left wing. No way he would start right over Beckham/Lennon/Wright-Philips/Joe Cole. And no chance in hell he'd ever squeeze Lampard/Gerrard/Carrick out of CM.

he's already back playing again with city. that's plenty of time for him to be fit, and sadly he will be taken by capello cause england really have no center backs beside terry and ferdinand.
playing carragher at center back would be fine in group stages cause i dont really see any threat against him from the other teams, unless dempsey(if fit) or altidore can beat him up in the air. but if he were to play in the knockout round, england would face someone that would expose his and terry's slowness.
if fit, too, joe cole would play on the left. not milner. ashley young would also start on the left before milner would. but i can see cole not being fit since he is a walking injury disaster.2/12/2010 1:44:33 PM |
McWinger03 All American 1055 Posts user info edit post |
yea i see ashley young or stewart downing probably on the left side, with cole starting if hes fit. Milner could play there, but I doubt he starts on the left over downing or young, since they both start over him on the left and right for villa. I think lennon probably starts on the right, but right now, milner is a lot better than beckham, walcott and swp for sure. I think milner is a better player than lennon, but he probably won't start over him. 2/12/2010 3:41:09 PM |
JTMONEYNCSU All American 24529 Posts user info edit post |
honestly though, you start lennon if you want speed on the right. if you are looking for consistency you might as well start beckham. he is still a hard worker out wide at his age. sure he's not fast, but hes never been fast...and milner is no usain bolt himself. i wont be surprised to see beckham start on the right against usa 2/12/2010 4:36:12 PM |

Quote : | "15 - Celtic have dropped 15 points from winning positions in the SPL this season compared to just two by Rangers. Gifts." |
I really wish there was some SPL on television every once in a while. Somebody tell FSC that nobody really gives a shit about Serie A anymore.
Quote : | "1 – Zinedine Zidane only made one assist for Thierry Henry with the French national team in 59 appearances together. Blend." |
That one's pretty funny. You'd think one of the best passers/attacking midfielders of all time could send a through ball the way of his country's best (and fastest) forward more than once in almost 60 games.

^^^ SPL games are played on Setanta, if you have it. Only channel in the US that carries them, as far as I know.
And it's a well-known fact that Henry and Zidane hate each other. Zidane wouldn't piss on Henry to put out a fire. That lone assist came from the WC06 game vs Brazil, and it was a free kick that was probably meant to be a shot which fell to Henry for the tap-in. If I recall, they didn't even celebrate it together. 2/14/2010 1:54:24 PM |

Never heard any of that. They looked pretty amiable towards each other at the charity match in Lisbon a couple of weeks ago. Also, Zidane made it a point to defend Henry during the whole handball incident saying "He is not a cheat, I know him well" and that he shouldn't take any more blame. 2/14/2010 2:49:48 PM |
McWinger03 All American 1055 Posts user info edit post |
yea i was about to post the same thing, i've never heard that. And can you really blame zidane for not sprinting all the way to the other side of the field to celebrate with henry? i really doubt that zidane avoided giving henry assists. He was the captain of the team and i seriously doubt he would put a personal problem with a player in front of winning games for france. 2/14/2010 2:55:52 PM |
