so you want to make it legal for your center to just be able to stand under the basket all game on defense
and basketball players can easily stand in the paint for a couple seconds, hop out for a split second, and get right back in the paint...defensive 3 seconds is a great rule] 6/16/2012 5:32:19 PM |

defensive 3 seconds is a great rule for people who want to see dunks which is why its in place to draw casual fans which is what brings most of the ratings.
no the center could not stand under the basket because theres a halo 3 feet around the basket. Defenders could stand in position and turn it into more of a team game though and not having to move in and out of the paint when you know a drive is coming would make the block charge call a lot easier. 6/16/2012 5:57:04 PM |

defensive 3 seconds is a terrible rule for people who want to see herb sendek type basketball
and why couldn't the center just stand under the basket and go up to block the shot when someone drove for the lane? you're encouraging drawing charges, i'm saying the charge call in general is a bullshit rule and encourages flopping] 6/16/2012 6:01:18 PM |

works pretty well in college basketball, where you can legally stand in the lane without a defensive 3 second penalty 6/16/2012 10:29:10 PM |
simonn best gottfriend 28968 Posts user info edit post |
first, in college they actually play basketball, so i'm not sure how that helps your point.
second, in college it's easy to live with a 6'5" guy playing center taking jumpshots, b/c only a handful of college teams have talent 1-5. in the nba that is not the case. if a guy wants to stand in the paint just shoot over him, and if you can't do that then you don't deserve to be a professional basketball player.
it's a rule that's in existence to enable more dunks, nothing else. i, for one, could do with less scoring and more basketball in the nba.] 6/17/2012 9:20:47 AM |

officiating truly is laughable at spots. Every time Wade or Lebron go bull in a china shop mode towards the basket you are getting 2 FT attempts. Durant and Westbrook do the same and don't get shit. Westbrook has to hit that open 3 though 6/17/2012 10:45:58 PM |

We are witnessing one of the most indefensible coaching performances in nba playoff history this series from Scott Brooks.
He's singlehandedly swaying the series to Miami with his lineups. How can you possibly explain two of your star players COMBINING for 49 minutes while the two worst players in your rotation play 61 minutes combined.
Despite tough games from durant and harden the thunder almost took advantage of an off game from Miami and stole a game on the road.
Instead they get handed another discouraging loss. As a bettor I'm happy but as a basketball fan I hate to see the championship be decided by off the court decisions.
Fisher 0 rebs, 0 ast is asking for durant and co. to overcome way too much. Not sure how you can justify playing ibaka less than 42 minutes a game at this point in the season, but 22 minutes almost makes the series look fixed. 6/17/2012 10:54:49 PM |

Battier, haslem, Jones, and miller combined for 25 points on 7 shots (and 12 ft). That's equivalent to shooting 96.2% from the field. Spectacular.
Another brilliant Lebron performance. 14 rebounds is just unbelievable from a SF. He keeps allowing Miami to be able to play Battier which has paid big dividends with battier shooting over 100% (adjusted) from the field in the series.
Wade and bosh had rough games. Certainly Lebron can no longer be accused of piggybacking for a championship. Wade has had a terrible Finals so far. 6/17/2012 11:07:52 PM |

That's the point. Shooting over 100% adjusted is terrific. That means if the other team is dunking on every play you're still beating them. I think that's notable. Figures you'd be the one who gets confused so easily though. 6/17/2012 11:23:27 PM |

I was thinking today about the Lakers and Spurs and how they would've given Miami more of a tough matchup by forcing Anthony into the lineup. Playing lebron at 4 makes Miami's offense unstopable. You can't let a team like that beat you on the glass. Really it all goes back to playing Fisher over Ibaka. They are matching up with the Heat instead of trying to make the Heat match up with them. In reality they are just letting the Heat put their best players on the court. 6/18/2012 8:27:42 AM |

The Heat wouldn't change their lineup for Ibaka. His offensive game is 99% baseline/elbow jumpshots and putbacks. He does improve the Thunder because of his rebounding and defensive presence, but it's not like he make the Heat shuffle their lineup.
Brooks fucked up big time last night by taking Westbrook out for the final 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter...especially with Harden already having a shitty game.
I'm impressed by the Heat keeping it together late in the game the last few games. They definitely aren't lights out and they still give the Thunder chances...but they are slowly starting to close games out better. 6/18/2012 10:52:54 AM |
