I agree, but with a team like FSU they get almost no drop-off when they bring in another 5 star off the bench to take his place.

A NC State coach saying what's on every fan's mind, and standing up for our players and team?

I 100% support it

I disagree. Experience makes a huge difference whether you are a 5 star or not. Love the idea of missing the drive.

regardless of if you think they're faking or not, it's a horrible look for a coach to complain publicly about it

it's obvious that he's doing to gain support from the fans, which isn't something he should really worry about

If you think your team is getting fucked, I'd rather the coach or the AD speak up about it. If you sit there and take it then nothing is going to change. Who cares what the public perception is, it's obviously a problem and now it's getting more attention.

because it's obvious and has absolutely nothing to do with wins and losses?

it just feeds into the us vs. them mentality and I think it's a bit ridiculous, especially considering there are proper channels to go about complaining about injuries/refs, and a press conference isn't one of them

Coach K complained about refereeing/UNC bias early on in his career. Worked out well for him no?

Going through the "proper channels" doesn't get anything done when you're a second year coach at NC State. With the hurry up spread offense, you're seeing a lot more of this fake injury shit and it needs to be put out there. I don't think he's worried about how this makes him look (and it's not as bad as people are making it out to be). He's more worried about opposing teams taking away his best advantage. Go DD.

complaining about refs and questioning injuries are completely different things

injuries should always get the benefit of the doubt

look at what Brady Hoke is going through after what he did Saturday night

I was complaining about the refs when we were up 24-7

Not about bad calls. About stopping play every 3 minutes, to have a conference, where the result was always "the ruling on the field is confirmed"

the game took fucking 4 and a half hours

it's just that a coach should be above making accusations like that in a press conference. all he's doing is throwing out red meat for the fanbase to eat up

that's pretty contradictory isn't it?

and all the lols at gold/ovies: "we're not obsessed about it, you are, but let's talk about it for a couple of hours". which was it gold or ovies that basically said doeren was right and it was obvious, but he shouldn't say anything about it? at the idea of the ACC doing anything to fix something

my point is that injuries, especially in the climate we're in with football in 2014, should be taken seriously

fans can complain all they want. all it takes is one serious injury after a coach accuses a player of faking it to make him look like an absolute fool. coaches shouldn't be putting themselves in position for that to happen.

coaches shouldn't have their players faking injuries. they're crying wolf, and finally somebody is calling them out on it.

there would never be talk about making a rule if nobody spoke up, and it needs to happen with a quickness.

A coach should also be above getting his team to fake injuries to slow down the opposing team's drive. Guess it's not a perfect world we all watch football in, huh?

Once or twice a game is one thing; consistently after a drive is building momentum and rolling down the field is another. If it looks like a duck, and lays on the on the field in faux pain like a duck, then it's a fucking duck. Too many repetitions of the same theme to be coincidence.

So you think an opposing player would go back in early after he was injured because an opposing coach has been harping about fake injuries??

Or are you saying that an opposing coach would get flack because of an injury that has no relation to him talking about fake injuries??

Because neither of those make sense.

What proper channels is he going to go through to address something that is completely legal under the current rules? The only way anything gets changed is if he gets it out there in the public. In the meantime, he has put it out there so other teams that try it when we go hurry up will get immediately noticed.

It's not against the rules, but it damn sure is unsportsmanlike which is exactly what DD said. Good for him.

My favorite was the fact this wasn't a thing. It was a stinger. Assuming you've never played football (at least I hope) you have a numb sensation go down your arm AS well as being in a tremendous amount of pain. The pain subsides and you get up. You people are delirious if you think they faked those injuries. One guy left for 20 plus plays and the other was the best D tackle FSU had available. When you don't let people catch there breath they get tired. Playing tired is when injuries happen because you can't defend yourself as well. It's a product of the offense.

Just because you are the best D tackle doesn't mean you are immune to becoming winded.

If you are that tired, check yourself out of the game then...

defense is not allowed to sub during hurry up unless the offense subs. thats the reason they are faking injuries.

no

some injuries aren't easily seen right away. he shouldn't put himself in a position where if it comes out an opposing player had a concussion and that was the reason for a stoppage, it's a bad look for him to allege that it was a fake injury

any player allowed to return to a game after getting a concussion - that's on his coach, period, unless the player was properly evaluated and a concussion wasn't detected (and the coach better have some kind of proof).

slowing game tempo with a fake injury is the new flop. it's a rash in the NFL and it's a rash in college FB.

exhibit A, taken from a September Saturday in North Carolina:

Now you're just going off the deep end to save your point.

All of these guys are limping off holding their knees and ankles. Doeren isn't dumb enough to make a comment like this if concussions are involved.

Watching on TV and not at the stadium other than the very last one they all looked like legit injuries. The final one looked pretty questionable as nothing looked like anything serious enough to warrant stopping play.

At some point they are going to have to address this and I can see it going two different ways:

1. If a player is hurt to the point play has to be stopped and helped off the field he should at least have to stay out the rest of that drive. Most of the time this is a non issue because if a player is legit hurt that badly he probably misses that much time anyways.

2. They decide with as hard as football is on the body anyways and all of the injuries they are going to not allow the hurry up offense anymore outside of the final 2 minutes of each half. Basically each team will be given a chance to substitue after each play before the ball is placed down and ready for play.
