I guarantee we play like this the rest of the season and score 41 we won't lose another game, problem is how do we do that? Lol

somewhat favorable schedule down the stretch. anything can happen, but TB should be a win. Cleveland is solid, but far from unbeatable. And ATL isn't scary either.

7-8-1 gets us in for certain.

However I believe we finish 6-9-1.

Damnit. Could have held the saints to their lowest total ever and stopped Drew Bree's touchdown pass record at 30 games but no??

i love the post game normally. So I REALLY think we win sunday to be 5-8-1. From there is depends a lot on the steelers and bears helping us next week. This is all a moot point if green bay lays an egg tomorrow night. GO PACKERS!

I found an alternate scenario for 6-9-1

Scenarios updated as of week 14

Scenario 1:

week 12: Browns beat Falcons, Ravens beat Saints
week 13: Panthers beat Vikings, Cards beat Falcons, Steelers beat Saints
week 14: Panthers beat Saints, Packers beat Falcons
week 15: Panthers beat Bucs, Steelers beat Falcons OR Falcons beat Steelers, Bears beat Saints OR Saints beat Bears
week 16: Panthers beat Browns, Falcons beat Saints
week 17: Panthers beat Falcons, Saints beat Bucs

Panthers 7-8-1, NO 7-9 OR 6-10, Atl 7-9 OR 6-10

Scenario 2:

week 12: Browns beat Falcons, Ravens beat Saints
week 13: Panthers beat Vikings, Cards beat Falcons, Steelers beat Saints
week 14: Panthers beat Saints, Packers beat Falcons
week 15: Panthers beat Bucs, Steelers beat Falcons, Bears beat Saints
week 16: Browns beat Panthers, Falcons beat Saints
week 17: Panthers beat Falcons, Saints beat Bucs

Panthers 6-9-1, NO 6-10, Atl 6-10

Nice to watch some good football for a week. We'll see if this was just an exception or the start of a trend. I hope Philly is ok, dude should have started from day one, he's the missing piece that opens up the field for the other guys to make plays. Shockingly good play from the secondary as well, I think the starting cornerback tandem is solid as fuck. Look, we all agree Shula is garbage and Rivera is questionable at best, but some cap space and more Gettleman draft picks will help this team more than anything. I don't think anyone short of Jim Harbaugh is worth bailing on Rivera just yet.

Basically no one in the NFC South wants to make the playoffs, they'd rather have the top 10-12 pick.

Still have to rely on the Saints losing again which despite their shitty play we all know they can be good. Gotta get help from GB tonight though.

So wait...you guys still want to make the playoffs?

Give me the top 10-12 pick instead of picking in the 20s. We have no shot at winning the SB this year, regardless of making the playoffs. NFC South representative will get rolled by the wildcard team.

I seem to remember a 7-9 Seattle team winning a game and an 8-8 Arizona team making it to the Super Bowl. If we limp in somehow thats one thing, but maybe that win yesterday gives us confidence and we can get hot at the right time and win out heading in with some momentum.

Making the playoffs at 7-9 and winning the wild card game to lose the next week does what for our team?

I guess if I realistically thought we had a chance to "make a run", then I'd be all for it, but I just don't see it. Before this week, in our last 10 games we went 1-8-1 with our 1 win being against a bad Bears team. We just beat a Saints team that lost 3 home games in a row before playing us, that home-field advantage is completely non-existent.

Make the playoffs at 7-8-1. Current schedule has us playing Seattle at home. If we drew Arizona at home, sure, we'd have a shot I suppose but only because they're QB situation is a mess. So odds are we have to beat Seattle and then @GB just to have a shot at the SB...get out of here.

Build for the future, we need the top 10-12 pick. Cam won't survive another year behind our make-shift OL.

I mean I dont really care either way because I agree the chance of winning it all looks pretty bleak, but at the same time I dislike the idea of rooting for my team to lose just to get a better draft pick.

just throw out the records and think about it. if Atl loses tonight, we're a half game out of first with 3 to play and winning out secures the division. it doesn't matter if we're 11-1-1 and Atl is 12-1, it's the same thing.

Eh, I just see it being completely different. Last year we looked like a legit contender and I was all for us making the playoffs. This year we don't look like a contender at all and just look like we're clearly in the worst division in the NFL.

If we were 11-1-1 I'd think we were a legit team that could make a run at the SB. Being 4-8-1 and clearly not having a shot at winning the NFC Championship leaves me fine with taking the high draft pick.

I'm not going to actively pull against my team, but I will be disappointed if we make the playoffs and get smashed week 1 and end up losing 10 spots in the draft order. We'd pick #21 if we lost in the first round of the playoffs where as right now we're slotted at #8.

Enough of this garbage about wanting to tank for a draft pick, good god that's fucking lame.

Who does that when their team is half a game out from making playoffs

I'd always rather get in the playoffs and have a chance than trust the front office to draft some future hall of famer 8th overall

False we still need New Orleans to blow one more game. 8-8 > 7-8-1

There are gigantic, glaring flaws about this team that are undeniable. The best thing that could happen long term is start the rebuilding process with the best draft position.

The best thing short term would be to make the dance because you never know once you get in.

Nobody is right or wrong on either side.

Thing is, we're already out of the running for a top 5 pick thanks to overall shittiness of the league this year, and there is no great prize worth tanking for (nor will anyone trade with us once the QBs and Cooper are off the board). The best thing for this team, especially all the young guys, is big game experience. So yeah, why not win out and host a playoff game, even if our chances of actually making a run are slim. I think the best way to play for next year is to get these guys as many reps as possible.

I don't think we can win the Super Bowl this year, but I also didn't think we'd beat the dog shit out of a talented Saints team yesterday either.

Yeah my thought process is with the NFL more than any other sport it seems any team can win on any given day so you just need to get in and ya never know what happens. If we dont get in I am not gonna feel bad because lets face it we dont really deserve it, but I am still gonna root for us to win every game.

I am here specifically to talk to this guy.

There are ALREADY 6 teams we can't even finish below... so that point is MOOT because the draft is pretty much a wash with talent this year. As it stands even if we win another game or lose out we are in the 8-13 range and that ISN'T going to change, so either make the playoffs barely and be the 21st pick and enjoy your team getting more practice, experience, and enjoying the playoffs or finish a game or so out and be in the 8-13 range anyways, so YES I want us to make the playoffs.

Either way, knowing your team is still alive for a playoff spot going into week 15 is awesome.

That's impossible to prove at this point. We won't actually know what we are potentially giving up until after the draft.

If we were going to tank, we should have sat Cam for the season instead of let him get battered behind an "offensive" line while trying to rehab from ankle surgery and a rib injury. Other guys who we rushed back might not have sustained more serious injuries that sent them to IR. We should have fucking suspended Greg Hardy before the season instead of looking like assholes to the whole nation. This team has suffered through a lot of reckless coaching and personnel decisions this season, now they have a chance to make it all worth it. I really think that will do more for this team going forward than a few spots on the draft board.

Who wants to go to the playoffs and compete for a Super Bowl? I'd rather cement a top-10 pick to draft the next future star like Blaine Gabbert or Darius Heyward-Bey

THAT will put us in business for the 2015 season

No offense, but if they somehow make the playoffs they're out in the first round. The Panthers are going to end up playing Detroit/GB or Arizona/Seattle. No chance that they beat any of those teams, even at home.

No chance we beat a Lions team that we already beat? Seeding and regular season record doesn't mean shit when you get to the playoffs. It's all about getting hot at the right time.

Sure, I think we'd lose to a team like Seattle, but it's certainly not a gimme for a Cardinals team with a bad QB situation, or a Lions team that the Panthers already beat, etc.

The 8-8 Cardinals made the Super Bowl a few years ago. Seattle won their division with a 7-9 record, hosted a game against the defending Super Bowl champ Saints and beat them, despite being underdogs.

Hey guys, just got back from the game

How would you rank the potential opponents for that hypothetical 4/5 matchup? In order of preference, I'd go...

1. Detroit
2. Arizona
3. Dallas
4. Philly
5. Seattle
6. GB

I remember the Panthers hosting a playoff game last year and playing with a chip on their shoulder, or playing with "swag," as exclaimed by Deangelo, and then getting the crap kicked out of them by San Fran. An extra game isn't going to do them any good. They wouldn't know how to act.

I see the Saints finishing 7-9 or even 8-8 to be honest. We would have to be SUPER lucky to get to 6-9-1 and make it, the luck has never been on our side. One year we played the saints in the last game to go 8-8 or 9-7 and make playoffs (choked). But it is nice knowing I am going to 2 games worth a damn the next 2 weeks.
