far cry has a good way to get rid of bunny hopping. Your stamina takes like a 30% hit every time you jump. At most you have 3 jumps and then you are down to a slow walk to move around. Its so inefective, noone does it. 12/20/2005 1:50:27 PM |

Ugh, bunny hopping is one of the reasons I stoped playing. I was on one karkand knife server and these guys bunny hopped so fast that you couldn't even hit him, I don't know if it was a hack or whatever. 12/20/2005 7:19:08 PM |

Last weekend I decided to be a plane whore, and learned two things.
a) It's even easier than I thought. b) More often than not, enemy jets won't even attempt to shoot you down. Why spend 5 minutes helping your team by dofighting when you can just rack up kills? 12/21/2005 2:36:10 PM |

I <3 shooting down bombers. Usually you will get a bomber pilot and (obviously) it isn't that difficult to shoot him down from a fighter. After you shoot him down (or after he realizes he can't get rid of you, he ejects) a few times he realizes that he won't be able to bomb again so he either tries to shoot you down from another fighter or just stops bombing and allows another pilot to try it. I do love a good dogfight though. 12/21/2005 2:49:53 PM |

Best. Precision. Bombing. Ever.
I've never seen anything like this happen before, so I had to take some shots. I was driving the BTR across the bridge, and a fighter swooped down and attempted to bomb me. Instead of hitting me, the bombs hit the bridge directly underneath me and my BTR fell in. There were 2 other guys riding with me, and they both thought it was hilarious when they saw what happened. Strangely enough, the BTR was completely unscathed. I had no idea fighter/bomber bombs could destroy a bridge! Does it have to be weakened first, or what? 1/3/2006 12:21:09 AM |

The bombs work just like C4. If it can be blown up with C4, it can be blown up by a plane. 1/3/2006 1:10:40 AM |

I play PC
I just upgraded my PC so I can play everything on high detail (well, one of the reasons)... wow... amazing difference.
Yesterday I actually found out how powerful the tear gas can be with squad tactics. That shit is amazing. One team member throws in a flash grenade, then we launch tear gas, then we go in... worked awesome in Warlord in the back building 1/10/2006 1:30:10 PM |

^I think that it would be a good idea to have some kind of visual lock button so that as a pilot you can keep your eyes on the jet as you are trailing him.
To the dude who asked about the PS2 thing, you CAN play BF2 with a PS2 controller if you have a PS2 -> USB adaptor. This will allow the PS2 controller to function just like any game controller would on a PC. 1/10/2006 4:24:23 PM |

wraith: I Disagree.
I don't use the missiles to shoot jets anyways, so a lock would be a meaningless feature that would only be abused by the noobs.
Next request by the noobs is to have the warning klaxon sound when I've got my bomb sights on.
I just want to be able to control my jet with my joystick while I'm looking around. That so much to ask?

After having not played for a week, I finally thought to try out whether or not a fighter or bomber can destroy enemy assets. To my complete amazement, it works like a charm. I have no idea why I've never tried it before, but this is a HUGE advantage for a team with a good pilot. Prime example is on Kubra dam, where the MEC artillery pieces are all lined up right beside each other. With a good drop, you can actually get all 3 at one time! This is SO much more effective than Special Forces sapping - it's a lot quicker and reasonably safer, plus you can do it over and over again without worrying about running out of supplies. It's definitely one of my new highest priorities to bomb the enemy UAV trailer ASAP. 1/11/2006 1:41:28 PM |
Wraith All American 27257 Posts user info edit post |
^^I don't mean to lock on with missiles, I hardly ever use them myself. I mean say you are behind a guy and he pulls up... you pull up too but you might lose sight of him because obviously you can't anticipate what he is gonna do. You probably can still see his vapor trail but sometimes if you are in the clouds or whatever it is difficult. Visual lock means that once he leaves your HUD, you will still be looking straight at him. Most flight sims have an option like that and I have found it to really help if he is a good pilot. 1/11/2006 5:41:42 PM |

I seem to be having some problems with my headset in game. I know I've got everything connected properly since I have used it with other programs (such as Ventrilo), but I can't seem to talk at all with my squadmates. Any suggestions as to what I need to check? I know I installed the VOIP client and server when I installed the game a LONG time ago, so I feel sure that's not it. 1/25/2006 2:10:49 PM |

I really dig the new maps that came with the SF pack.
The only problem is that my laptop's specs are starting to get a bit behind with all the games, so playing BF2 with nightvision on and whatnot makes the game unplayable once you get near any action.
However, in the next 2 weeks I hope to fix this problem by upgrading my desktop. 1/25/2006 5:15:28 PM |

Pilot can be good if you know the person flying the other plane. If one is in the bomber and the other is in the fighter, it helps a lot. But it usually doesn't usually last long because there is always someone else who grabs the plane before you. 1/25/2006 6:36:27 PM |

wraith,
If its just me and another person playing together, we'll try to get the fighter bomber. Now that's fun! Basically locking on to whatever poor sap decides to get in a tank.... really pathetic but ohh so fun. I've gotten shittons of points on a map before and didn't drop a single bomb ... all driver assists.
The one time we broached 120 doing that, it was so fun that my girlfriend had to come upstairs and ask what I was making so much noise about. My buddy and I were on Teamspeak and were just laughing our asses off. 1/25/2006 10:29:17 PM |

I fucking LOVE co-piloting the bomber. Only found like one or two guys that could hold it steady and straight on a target long enough to get a lock though. 1/25/2006 10:31:20 PM |

I come in from above, and know exactly how long it takes to get a lock. we coordinate what we're shooting at so if there is more than 1 target available, he'll take out one while I bomb the other.
First priority though is maintaining air superiority. The best way I've found to do this, is by shooting the other "pilot" out of the air a couple times so he just gives up. I wish I could put that warning klaxon on mute damnit. 1/25/2006 10:37:38 PM |

Well getting a good co-pilot is rare unless you know the person beforehand. I was in the SU-30 on Operation Clean Sweep (my fav. bombing map) about a week ago and we absolutely decimated them. He even got a lucky shot off by somehow hitting the F-15 with a laser-guided missile. 1/25/2006 11:27:26 PM |

I still just can't get over the fact that you can bomb commander's assets. I have thoroughly enjoyed this. It's even more entertaining when you keep on doing it over and over, and the enemy team keeps sending out people to repair only to get bombed. 1/29/2006 11:15:46 PM |

^that ghost town bridge is really retarded (at least the side with one bridge)
I tried my usual method of taking a small car/atv, loading with c4, then parking on the bridge and running before I blow it. Well half the time it doesn't blow and the other half the time you have to place the charges on the bridge itself. I suppose since it's a concrete instead of wooden, but it works for the other bridges on that map. 1/29/2006 11:40:48 PM |

Anyone have any info on the Euro Force expansion? I'm curious as to what new weapons, units, and maps may be included with it.
Also, I need a good chopper guide. I can fly the transports with no problem, but admittedly, I am only mediocre with the gunships. I have seen people do some incredible maneuvers with them, and I'd love to learn how. I just can't understand how people can fly those and yet be so aware of their surroundings from what seems like every angle. I can only guess that they are flying from a 3rd person POV? 1/30/2006 11:33:26 AM |
