if you watch the video of the car and the explosion, its clear that it wouldnt be fatal. i think the music and quick cut away kept you from getting a clear picture of what happened.

the right door was open, but the blast didnt enter the car, a bunch of shrapnel was falling on the windshield and hood, but it was a cop car, so the windshield would be reinforced ect and there is no reason to assume the shrapnel would crush the car, bc there wasnt that much of it.

jack should be burned, but fine.
