Oh well season over. At least they made it interesting enough to keep watching until the end of the season.

I can't believe how bad the Braves defense was tonight. Not just Chipper's 3 run error (Utley should have been called out anyway), but Andruw normally catches Rollins liner for a triple, Kelly Johnson couldn't get to any balls up the middle (atleast 3 went under his glove) and Hudson bobbled a sure DP on a comebacker.

I will be rooting for the Phillies tomorrow and this weekend. Also I'm pulling for the Rockies although I should pull for the Padres since they have a better chance to knock the Mets out of the Wild Card spot. For some reason I just don't like the Padres even though they have Maddux and Marcus.

I think we should put Devine in tonight...

That's the easiest way to let up a grand slam.

GO PHILS!

Okay, so as true Braves fans, what do we do here? Do you haope the Braves lose to the Phils and help give the Phils the division just so the Mets will be screwed and possibly even not get the Wild Card, or do we hope they still win anyway? I hate the Mets MUCH more than the Phillies.

I'm leaning slightly towards the former.

^ For most of us "regulars" in this thread, that question has been answered. We are now Phillies fans for the next four games. The Mets don't deserve a playoff spot with how horrible they are playing and the atleast the Phillies have some likeable players such as Howard, Utley, Rowand (Rollins being a dick and Brett Myers a drunken wife beater not withstanding).

The only players on the Mets that I don't mind are Glavine obviously, and Wright. Alou is a dick, Delgado is more overrated than Andruw, Beltran is the least clutch player ever, Reyes is unclutch and looks like a Voodoo doll, Shawn Green is overrated, overpaid (nice guy though), Oliver Perez is an asshole with his mound antics, Wagner is a dumb redneck, Orlando is 65 years old, Pedro is okay, but runs his mouth, etc.

"Beltran is the least clutch player ever"

I remember him almost single handedly knocking out the Braves out of the playoffs when he was with the Astros.

Quote :
"Beltrán is famously shy, but at this time of year, he tends to turn into a real ham. With the Houston Astros in 2004, Beltrán batted .435 in the playoffs and tied a postseason record with eight home runs. His .958 slugging percentage that year ranks as the best ever in a division series. His .562 on-base percentage ranks second."

^^ I was referring to his standing at homeplate with his bat on his shoulder as strike three went by with the bases loaded in game 7 against the Cardinals in the NLCS last year.

So one at bat defines him as the least clutch player ever?

^ Yes pretty much. Game 7, two outs, bases loaded and take a called third strike = least clutch player ever.

^ Yes.

Actually Smoltz has not beaten the Phils since 2005 so tonight is nothing new. Oh well, atleast the Braves kept it interesting until the final week. 2008 will be our return to the playoffs. Frenchy for MVP!

^ you going to start a 2008 Braves thread?

The shit Boras has spilling out of his mouth about Andruw is hilarious (AJC article today).

JS announced that Andruw isn't part of the Braves' plans for 2008.

^ Oh well no surprise obviously. If Boras wasn't such a dickhole, I think the Braves would be willing to offer Andruw a one year deal to prove that last year was a fluke and help him get a massive contract for 2009-on.

I like Andruw as a person and hope he lands in the AL and tears shit up. As long as he isn't playing against the Braves, I'll always be a fan of his.

^ Previous reports on the AJC said that the Braves might be willing to give him a one year deal in the $8-10 million range if he was willing to sign for just one year. Boras won't let that happen.

Also Liberty Media is not going to cut the Braves payroll and it's possible they may add $5-10 million. If Druw was willing, they could find a way to get him $10 million (which is $4.5 million less than he made in '07, but the Braves have to find $12 million for Tex too).
