I love this move, Sergei became redundant, and Allen is having a bad year, so JR's reclamation project. If he can be slotted with Corvo or Pitkanen, this might be a huge win.

he's kind of an unknown. He plays a physical style game, but when you're in Florida, it's hard to judge talent since.

according to espn he is 6'-4", 225 lb

so at least hes a big body out there, but his stats are pretty bad:

4 goals, 8 assists, -5, with 83 hits so far this year

4 goals, 9 assists, -8, with 120 hits last year

and he's 30 years old

-5 on a terrible Panthers team is not that bad all things considered. He's a career plus player, though only slightly, but that's with 5 season in Florida and they haven't sniffed the playoffs. If he can be paired with Joni and allow Joni to do stupid mistakes and us to not get burned by them, this trade could have huge rewards.

Career plus player who has played on shitty teams in Florida since the trade.

Will fit into a Wallin type of role. Overall the blue line is pretty balanced now with 3 puck movers and 3 stay at home types.

Solid move. Get rid of a winger who had been solid, but wasn't something that we didn't already have that was younger and cheaper and gain a guy who has a decent +/- considering he played for FL. I guess this means Joslin will be a healthy scratch 7th d-man from here on out?

The 'Canes Facebook page hate on Joni is ridiculous. I understand he makes some dumb plays sometime, but unless we'd gotten a top pairing shut-down guy or a good package of prospects/picks back then it made no point to trade him.

1) Vokoun having a great game - always a possibility.
2) Samsonov lights up Ward for 3 goals. Former 'Canes always smoke them so this would not surprise me either.
