I like the fact that Butt Lube pulled out for the sheer fact that it renders the NC primary useless (in terms of president) and makes defeating Amendment One more viable.

Newt Gingrich insists his presidential campaign is going all the way to the GOP convention in Tampa. But first the candidate needs to get on the ballot in Utah.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports Gingrich's $500 check to pay the filing fee has bounced. If the former House speaker doesn't pay up by April 20, the story says, his name won't appear on the ballot.

The Utah primary -- the last of the presidential nominating season -- is June 26.

From the Salt Lake newspaper story:

Utah Elections Director Mark Thomas said a designated agent for the Gingrich campaign brought the filing papers and a check for $500 in March, but after the check was deposited, the state was notified by the bank that the check had bounced. He said the office has tried to contact the Gingrich campaign through the telephone number and email provided on the application, but have not received a response.

Gingrich acknowledged Sunday that he recently contributed some of his own money to help his campaign, which is about $4.5 million in debt."

Ha, in Utah no less. I wonder how many votes Gingrich would get there anyway.

^ I guess we are great in America at suspending reality to believe any of these people on either side (Obama included) are great candidates and/or great statesmen. I can't believe we accept this bullshit so readily.

Mitt romney is claiming that

92.3% of the jobs lost under Obama were women.

http://www.mittromney.com/blogs/mitts-view/2012/04/women-obama-economy-unemployment-infographic

with their source: Source: ("Current Employment Statistics," BLS, Accessed 4/6/12)

I can't find shit with that source citing. 92.3% is unbelievable to me.

If anything the recession disproportionately affected men.

Remember there is a "war on women" in the news and anyone that supports Romney and Obama question nothing from their respective parties.

Men lost more jobs than women, but men have been hired back at a much, much higher rate. There's some new math going on in there, but it's not entirely untrue.

Washington Post article from last week:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/are-obamas-job-policies-hurting-women/2012/04/09/gIQAGz3q6S_blog.html?tid=sm_twitter_postpolitics

Pretty much anything either camp will release up until the debates is going to be complete bullshit.

Mitt should just pick Sarah Palin as his running mate to solve his problem with women.

Mitt Romney's flip-flop on stay-at-home moms: Will it matter?
Quote :
"the candidate was explaining why he favored work requirements for poor women receiving public assistance – even if it ultimately cost the state more money in day-care expenses. The answer? Because they need to experience "the dignity of work.""

He recently was saying stay at home mothers are awesome, but wanted to implement a policy to encourage mothers to work because it provides more "dignity."

That's a flip-flop.

He should have been saying how his wife would have had more dignity working, and hiring a baby sitter, than just being a stay-at-home mom.

^I see what you mean. I took it differently as those on welfare learning the dignity of earning your money vs living off others. Not so much as staying at home vs working. Why I asked what you meant.

Why you can't trust the news and their claim that Romney is the winner.

I don't know when cbs changed the numbers, but they did, without notice.

In other words, it is dignified to be a wealthy stay at home mother, but undignified to be a poor stay at home mother.

Being INDEPENDENT is more dignified than being DEPENDENT. yes

So as long as the poor mother is not relying on taxpayers they would both be equally dignified. It would be a personal decision for that household.

So are the almost 20% of North Carolinian votes for Gingrich and Santorum symbolic? Or did people actually think they were still in the race?
