Not surprised, but here's hoping for something awesome.

Providence looks really bad, the hall might beat them by 30.

Current Live-RPI (for a few teams relevant to us making the tourney):
43. Iona 48. Northwestern 51. Oregon 52. Texas 53. NC State 55. Seton Hall 56. Miami 57. St. Joe's 58. Xavier 65. Drexel 75. Tennessee 84. Arizona 94. Stanford 3/7/2012 12:05:08 AM |

Let's walk through this. 94% of 64 is ~60. Meaning they get 4 wrong on average.
Since the bubble watch usually only involves 4-8 teams, anyway, that means they are probably getting only half the bubble teams right.
So, you can flip a fucking coin on all the bubble watch teams and be just as accurate as their formula.3/7/2012 12:08:15 AM |

Word Lunardi, 10 Big east teams?
Like I'm supposed to believe that
Connecticut Seton Hall and West Virginia are all supposed to get in?
a couple years back the big east deserved all those bids, now it feels like they're just getting bids just for being massive.

They are the SEC of basketball hadn't you heard?
I feel like UCONN vs. WVU this afternoon should be basically a play in game for those two.

UConn is 34th RPI with 5 RPI top 50 wins and the 2 SOS in the country. They are a lock. WVU is 43rd and a lock. Hall is 60 and dicey IMO though they do have 4 top 50 wins compared to our zero..
Re: UConn they played half the season without their coach and without their starting PG. these things are also taken in to consideration but their resume alone is that of a lock.

As for the UConn thing, their punishment will probably be the 2013 tournament. They did the same thing with UNLV, delaying their punishment so they could defend their title. 3/7/2012 1:28:30 PM |

Except that isn't part of their punishment at all, so it's not true. Google UConn APR, it's not too difficult. 3/7/2012 1:52:32 PM |

It says they are ineligible for the 2013 tournament because of their APR, so I'm a bit confused what you mean.

they definitely said during UCONNs first round game that they are ineligible to compete in the 2013 NCAAT. Said that would be a big factor in Drummond, Lamb and Calhoun's decisions to come back next year 3/7/2012 2:04:29 PM |

Ideal situation for us is probably uconn beats WV then loses next round, that way they both finish w/ losing records against the conference. Even in a good conference its hard to pick a team with a losing record in conference. 3/7/2012 2:14:31 PM |

If UConn wins, they are in. Despite the losing record, they have a 34 RPI, 2 SOS, and 6-6 against the RPI Top 50. 3/7/2012 2:17:18 PM |
