There's been tons of discussion about if the hack is real or not. It very well could be, it's hard to say for sure. There was an exploit on the PSP that used a very similar method to run unsigned code.

^ What error code are you getting, or is your password just not working? If the password isn't working, try putting in the Hex key value for it (The first key in the little list thing)

i'm at work now, but i'll post the error code when i get off. I've tried it at my apt and at my Dad's house...both give me the same deal. The software update took like 1 hour and then no more internet.

So you get the error code after the first software update, and then no net? OK, that happened to me originally. It gave me the 110213 error code. I ended up having to call Nintendo, and they shipped me a replacement console. Not a terribly huge deal, but then again you lose all your saved data when you get the new console.

i have already updated the software (twice) and it just won't get online now. My error code is -5xxx (in the 5000's) i think. That would REALLY suck if I had to get a new wii...don't play like i'm not >1300 skillz in bowling.

oh okay you're probably fine then, the problem is probably something else. If you go to http://support.nintendo.com and dig around there's a section where you type in the error code and it tells you what's wrong and how to fix it.

also, does it really matter if someone has hacked the Wii? Won't they just patch it through the dashboard update? That really sucks that they can fix bugs now by pushing a patch.

It seems like by trying to "protect" people they have made the Wii so user un-friendly that it's a problem. Friend codes that are annoying chains of numbers, error codes that are also numeric, in ability to find new friend codes, etc.

But then again, who knows, since I don't own one I can't overlook these things because it's fun

They are saying that Nintendo will instantly release a patch that will disallow you to play burned games using whatever "picture/media" mod that is in the video. I just got it the other day. It's really super cute if that means anything to you. You go around houses and neighborhoods looking for these tiny electrically charged elebits. You can basically ransack a room to find them. You're timed with the collecting and have to get enough to open doors and power up stuff in the houses. It's pretty fun so far, but the controls are spazzy to me, you have to actually move the remote forward to look around, but when I move the remote when I'm trying to open a door/drawer it just goes shitfaced and gets all annoying.
