lol. It'll get there, but just right now i'm not so sure they have the holiday momentum they need (ps3). We'll see.

I will say the PSP is picking up more interest from me, i like the new designs and the good games are going to start really mounting this fall. Not like I need MORE games but just saying.

I tried the folklore demo today. It was actually pretty good..strange, but good.

The graphics are stunning...the color palate and art is eye popping. I have a big plasma so if it's one thing its strong at, and what I really like when games use - it just alot of vibrant color. Yeah the game uses alot of bloom like everything else nowadays. But still...very nice.

So I finally figured out why my PSN is always signing out and online games have been messing up. its the wireless. I did the whole thing with setting up militarized zones and it worked for a while but since the last few weeks it has all gone down hill, and Warhawk has messed up on me like crazy.

I decided to run a cat5 all the way to my living room and everything works perfect. Played Warhawk for a couple of hours, no problems. Its just weird because the wireless works fine for a while, like I played Warhawk for a good 20 minutes, and then it starts messing up like crazy.I guess they still haven't fixed the Linksys router issues with the PS3.

Do any of you guys use wireless on the PS3 and have been able to play Warhawk, etc. with no problems at all? What kind of router are you using, and did you have to set things up special at all? Lemme know.

I've used wireless almost exclusively on my PS3. Wowhawk plays just fine. I've been playing anywhere from 2-4 hours every night and have never had so much as a disconnect. I'm using a D-Link DGL-4300, with WPA2 and only allowing 802.11g connections. Open up the PS3 browser and go to http://www.speedtest.net/ . Run the test with wireless and without. Should let you know if that's where the problem lies.

Well not everyone wants to run a CAT5 down to their fucking living room.

I for one am having problems with it, signing in and out, downloads taking a retarded amount of time, the works. In fact I'm pretty pissed at shitty PSN right now, they better start fixing this. I don't have a single problem with Wii or 360 wireless, so I know it's the PS3.This happens both when I had a Linksys WRT54G, and now I own a really damn awesome top of the line Buffallo router equipped with Tomato 1.07....so it's not my router. I just don't get it.

Also, why the hell does the PS3 sound like a turbo hairdryer when folding@home. I refuse to fold@home now because the system is like a loud space heater and less like a console.

I know this is alot of griping, sorry. And you fags that want to piggyback on this stuff to slam the ps3 need to stfu. But I am annoyed.

^^ I had the same problem with the Linksys that you are talking about, and apparently the issue is also with Buffalo routers from what I've heard. Everytime you quit a game, it boots you out and have to re sign in, slow as crap. Those are the problems I had too, so its definitely an issue with certain routers and the PS3, especially since the guys above say they have no issues with theirs.

Still, I would have thought you would be golden after putting Tomato on there. I wanted to do that but my router is too new and they haven't come out with Tomato that's compatible with it.

I'd try the speed test, but it really seems the issue is with the PSN. It can grab an IP and connect to the internet fine. It just fails when it tries to connect to PSN.

Turn one of your routers into a wireless bridge/switch and then run a wire from it to your PS3.

If you're already dicking around with flashed router firmware, you shouldn't have any issue getting it set up.

Well, I didnt assume it would exactly speed stuff up. It isnt signal strength, its about me constantly finding myself logged out of PSN back and forth.

Although noticeably yesterday this didnt occur for a couple hours in a row. improvement.

So question, i mentioned before that my buddy is leaving his ps3 with me while hes in the marines which is kinda cool and i just played guitar hero for the first time last night...
i was reading online whether or not the ps2 versions of guitar hero 1 and 2 were compatible and it seems like all the info i could find was a bit dated...

does anyone know if it is possible to play the ps2 versions of guitar hero on a ps3?
(google kept giving me gay ass year old forum posts)

there are adapters you can buy (and most aren't perfect), but as far as just straight out playing it, no

anyway, I finally got my FragFX (a good 2 months of backorder later)...it completely changes the PS3 for me. Games like Resistance, the Stranglehold demo, etc are suddenly 1000x better. Best $60 I ever spent as it will open a whole new world of games for me

By the way, if you go pre-order Ratchet and Clank Future : Tools of Destruction at Gamestop/EB Games/Babbages, they'll give you a free demo disc that has the entire first level of the game.

I don't care how good it looks, if they don't fix the online implementation of games and friends lists, it'll be below Forza or PGR for me. Sorry. It does 'look' the part, but we will see. Sony needs to straighten up their act and if takes that title to do it....so be it, GET IT OUT ALREADY.

I'm certainly rooting for it because right now I ain't playing shit on the PS3. And no I'm not paying for a 'prologue'...that's a rip. I know you want to 'lol at every other racing game made' but let's not be ignorant here. There are alot of other killer racing franchises and GT is just one of em. It's a bold comment until it drops...we've heard that type of thing before for games and the ps3 has not dropped a blockbuster I'm afraid.

Although I do admit, I think this has the chance to accomplish that, more so than even MGS4.

^^^You're kidding me right? The GT series were the best selling games on both the PS1 and PS2. It isn't "just one of" the racing franchises out there, it is far and away the most popular and best reviewed ever. Forza and PGR don't even come close to the mass appeal that the GT series has garnered. Try as you might, you can't downplay it without looking really fanboyish, and I don't even like racing games.

And about the PSN, the main problem with it is that there just isn't much to do on it yet. However, what's there works and works very well. Warhawk is an amazing accomplishment on a home console, with dedicated servers supporting 32 players. It's not perfect, as the ranking systems and server browser are bugged and laggy, but actually playing the game works fine. People have also been playing Resistance on 40 player dedicated servers since day one. And both Warhawk and Resistance use your PSN ID.

XBox Live is great and all, but at the end of the day, it's a closed system, that's mostly peer to peer and it has a lot of limitations. You're never gonna see dedicated servers with massive player counts on XBox Live, and you're probably never going to see a full game like Warhawk ever released through XBox Live. The PSN is definitely not as polished or well thought out as XBox Live, but it has tons of potential, and has all the underpinnings to eventually be as good or better than XBox Live. We're gonna start seeing some of that with Home (hopefully). Oh, and it's also free.

Jesus shrike, well obviously I'm not trying to combat the objective, holistic sales figures or world reception of the fucking game. I said 'for me', that until certain things were met - it's not going to make me reach out and buy it (I'm like you, not a huge racing fan), and I meant it. I'm not trying to downplay GT, I'm downplaying Sony. Both Sony and Nintendo want to slag on their network system but they best be figuring it out soon. In the former's case, they went and contracted the outside consulting company behind Live to help with PSN (Limelight Networks), and I think that's the best move they could do. It was very recent.

I've got a PS3 and I'm frusrated becuase out of a decent gaming expereince with Warhawk, that's all that's out there that's worth a shit. I know PSN is free, but it needs major overhauling for unique friend's list, better game lobbies for game setup, INVITATIONS (for fuck's sake), all the things that make Live the shit and a half, and no one will disagree. I want to play my PS3 more but I hate the way they implement friends on there. Like, you're on my list for example, but there's little I can do from the shell, or if I'm in a game, I freaking have to quit it just to see what game you are playing.

Oh and needles, I've just been playing other stuff like Metroid Prime 3 and COD4 MP beta recently. If TWW gets a game going I'd love to do that. I don't even have you on my list but it's an idea. I'd frankly love to play a close game with teamwork and intelligent chatter on the BT headset.

In case some of you haven't heard, this weeks Tokyo Game Show is really supposed to bust some stuff open for Sony. 1UP actually had someone confirm that the new rumble controller will be announced. Apparently more proof to this is that the new development kits sent out have support for the new rumble controllers.

Also the new 2.0 firmware should be announced, which will allow XMB access while in game. I think this one is super important. I definitely want to be able to check messages and see who's online, etc. while I'm in a game.

As far as that SDF article up there, It was kinda lame and it has been pointed out before that the irony in comparing halo 3 grfx difference between E32005 video of killzone and what it looks like now is very stark.

I'll likely be buying both, but just saying. I hope SDF is a big joke.

Especially considering that now that the first and arguably harshest review is in from our Eastern cousins (Famitsu), and a more more difficult Japanese market for MS. They dialed it a near perfect 10/9/9/9. Maybe SDF can make fun of that too.

Of course SDF is a joke, that's basically common knowledge these days. They are essentially to Sony what Stephen Colbert is to the republican party, and it's funny as hell. They make both sides of the console war look incredibly stupid, just look at some of the comments made by Halo fans about that video they made. The whole thing is hilarious.

Also, Famitsu gave Halo 2 the same exact score and it didn't help the original XBox gain any popularity in Japan. Look, Halo 3 is going to get reviewed well, there is no doubt. It's a game with a lot of polish and massive production values that keeps the same basic design as it's well reviewed predecessors. It's not going to make any new Halo fans though, and it certainly won't help the 360 in Japan.

I know that, but I guess I fail to see the whole 'console war is stupid' thing if they only fuel it with more 'sarcastic' one sided flame. It's tongue and cheek sure, but it certainly isnt making fun of 1/2 the agument which is Sony fanbois. I'm not a fan of the great console war, although I do think it's healthy for competition. It's two big ass companies with lots of money so why should I want one of them to 'succeed' and the other to 'fail'.

errr, well not a whole lot there shrike. I mean the cup is just more MGS cutscenes. I'm not even a fan of MGS storyline, just want the gameplay. I wish Kojima would remind himself that he isnt a director and release more gameplay! I think it's playable though at TGS so I'm interested to hear how that goes.

Uncharted looks pretty good tho, I really like the animation of Mr. Dude protagonist. I hope it does well..

And no announcements about the fabled firmware 2.0? wtf? I'm dissapointed.

I hear ya, but at least they are putting it back in. It was really damn stupid it was left out, gamers like rumble - its not like you notice it toooo much, but when it's gone it's clear you're missing something. So I can appreciate the subtlety of it all.

I wish they'd release more info on 2.0 too but honestly buckle up, cause I think it'll be til spring of 08. They pushed Home back to then so I'd imagine they're quiet about 2.0 at TGS for a similar reason. They had to fess up to home delay, but they dont technically have to mention 2.0.
