you can forget it, no one in their right mind would trade Brady right now

OK here's an interesting trade. I play in a dynasty league where you can sign a player for up to 4 years. I have Marshawn Lynch, and Adrian Peterson, who I picked up in this years rookie draft. (I traded for the first and third pick). I signed them both for 4 years.
The trade is for Larry Johnson, who has one more year left on his contract until he can be bid on, for Adrian Peterson and Marshawn. My team is good enough to win, (I start Peyton, Willis Mcgahee, Willie Parker, either AP or Marsh, Colston, reggie Wayne, Heap.
It would suck to give up those rookies, but if I just wanted to really try and win it all this year, (over thousand dollar pot), should I take on LJ as my flex?
Or do yall think that Marshawn and AP will keep up the pace, with steady good numbers the rest of the year? 10/4/2007 1:30:09 PM |
packboozie All American 17452 Posts user info edit post |
AP is the real deal....and he isn't even scoring TDs yet.
He is a threat to run and catch TDs. You might regret losing him.
I wouldn't trade LJ for AP straight up much less throw another player in. 10/4/2007 1:49:45 PM |
Amk772 Veteran 429 Posts user info edit post |
I dont think Im gonna do it simply because Ive got them signed away for the next 4 years. LJ will be a free agent next year. I think keeping both of them I still have a chance to win it all this year,Im 4-0, and Ive secured my running back situation for the next couple years. 10/4/2007 2:19:33 PM |

^ Do not make that trade. AP and Lynch are both about equal to LJ right now until LJ can show more consistency. Lynch has been able to produce the past two weeks even though he has gone up against some tough defenses.
Plus in a dynasty league, AP and Lynch's combined value far exceed LJ's. LJ is showing that 400 carry a year decline that hit guys like Terrell Davis, Jamal Anderson, Ricky Williams, etc. LJ is still a very good back, but that is a horrible trade for you.
TE question - who to start
Cooley or Owen Daniels
Leaning towards Cooley only because the Skins are playing the Lions. Daniels is getting a lot of looks though from Schaub since Andre Johnson is injured. 10/4/2007 2:27:32 PM |
packboozie All American 17452 Posts user info edit post |
Cooley because like you said they are playing the Lions.
I have 3 defenses since the Chargers have let me down. Which to start? Texans vs Miami Cardinals at Rams Chargers at Denver
Texans/Cardinals seem like decent choices going up against 2 awful teams and I am leaning towards Arizona. 10/4/2007 3:40:27 PM |

I bet a bunch of people here drafted him if they are in deep leagues. seemed to be popular at the beginning of the thread
Okay, thoughts on this trade:
Give: Derrick ward, Michael Jenkins Get: P. Rivers, Cotchery.
Only have Peyton Manning at QB, and my receivers are kind of sucky.

We start 2 RB's and the guy in my league with Travis Henry has only him and Willie Parker. If he loses Travis Henry for the season he'll be in a tough spot.
..which is why I picked up Selvin Young yesterday 10/5/2007 8:33:11 AM |

Ive got Peyton Manning and Wayne, and Im thinking about trading for Dallas Clark, offering Todd Heap and Deshaun Foster. Im stacked at RB, Foster would never play.
Id like to do it because every time Clark or Wayne catch a TD I get double the points. And since those are the two guys that Peyton is going to right now, especially with Marvin Harrison out, I think it would be a good trade. PLus Heap may not play this weekend. 10/5/2007 8:41:01 AM |

Our league runs two RB and a RB/WR.
Pick 3 of the below for this week:
Willis McGahee Clinton Portis LenDale White Ahman Green Jamal Lewis
My gut says to start the first three, but if Green plays against the dolphins, that matchup looks to good to pass up.
Also at my flex WR/TE spot, I need some advice. Pick 1:
Andre Davis Jerry Porter Greg Jennings Brandon Jones Bryant Johnson
Yes, I have a lot of WR on the bench. Thanks!

^ If Portis is out I'd swap out him for Green.
^^Only problem is Indy's bye is coming up and you will have a bunch of players out. I think it's a good trade if the person bites. Clark seems to be targeted alot by Manning and Wayne is a gimmme. Foster might decline some with Delhomme out and Heap, who know how his sseason will end up but he is a good TE too.
I have a question. I need a TE, do I play Desmond Clark or Donald Lee?
I think they are about equal, Griese will most likely check down to Clark but Farve is pass happy this year and will pass some to Lee. So they are about equal IMO.

whats with the whole restraining order thing? just a stall tactic? 10/5/2007 10:00:25 AM |

Pretty much....They can't test the "b" sample while the restraining order is valid, and you don't technically test positive until both the "a" and "b" samples are tested.
It also shows they're going to make it a court matter (most likely ending up in federal court), instead of going through NFL arbitration to challenge.....lets hope for an extra slow US court process. 10/5/2007 10:26:45 AM |

I have Green and my guess is that they sit him for at least one more week. Dayne isn't very good and neither is Green, but the Packers have one of the worst rushing offenses in the NFL, so no one is a good option there. Also, look at the fact that Favre is throwing much better and you can see where they will put the bigger share of the workload.
Also factor in that Schaub's best receiver is out and that means they will have to run the ball more, and Miami is a pretty bad team this year, so they should have a bit more success. 10/5/2007 3:37:33 PM |

brief background on my league:
14 teams start: qb rb rb wr/te wr/te wr/te dst k 6 bench spots keeper league: each team may keep up to 4 players on their roster, giving up an early draft pick for each player kept.
all td's are 6 pts 1pt per 50 pass yards 1 pt per 25 rushing/receiving yards -2 pts per fumble/interception
i have rivers as my #1 qb and with norv turner that isn't lookin so good david garrard is my backup and has scored 2 more points than rivers in 1 less game.
rb's shaun alexander reggie bush brian leonard deangelo williams chris brown michael turner
wr's calvin johnson santonio holmes patrick crayton ronald curry
my weak spot has been qb, with wr needing the next most improvement.
i was offered jon kitna and warrick dunn for shaun alexander and basically anyone
i really don't like the idea of trading shaun alexander for jon kitna, but kitna has scored 55 pts so far to rivers' 28 and garrard's 30. knowing that rivers will probably play better than he has the first 4 weeks and kitna may not keep up his scoring pace, is this trade worth considering?
in a keeper league like this i'd like to get something in return for alexander rather than just keeping him until he's not worth the roster spot, but i don't know that i like that trade. he has other guys better than dunn that i could try and counter with: gore, lynch, roy williams, etc.
thoughts? should i consider the trade for kitna/dunn or try and get more out of it? i mean i'd definitely do it if he made it kitna/lynch or gore or something, but then i'd probably need to add someone decent in with alexander, and he may not want to do it even then.
i never guessed i'd have to try to play the matchup game with rivers and garrard. norv turner really fucked them up.
and the reason i have so many rb's is b/c good ones are very scarce in a 14-team league. also, i plan on keeping michael turner as he ought to be a stud starting for some other team next year, depending on where he ends up.

I am in a pending trade to get Rivers for Foster
I already have Maroney, Westbrook, K Jones, and now Michael Pittman. Not the greatest depth but I need a better QB tandem then Garrard and Pennington. I have a feeling Rivers will turn things around..or at least I hope so. I'll drop Garrard probably and pick up another RB. 10/5/2007 5:53:14 PM |

yeah... i'm also debating who to start between rivers and garrard this week if i don't do that trade. denver is the #1 pass D and rivers has looked shitty but KC is right there at #5 too. i keep flip-flopping between the two, but honestly i don't think they will put up drastically different numbers. my opponent has gates, so if i start rivers it'll basically be a wash even if he does do something. 10/5/2007 6:06:18 PM |
Amk772 Veteran 429 Posts user info edit post |
Start Rivers, this is the turnaround week for him. And Its good that it's a wash, You pretty much cancel out Gates, then any other yardage/TD are a bonus. That is if recieving yards are worth the same as passing yards in your league... 10/5/2007 9:00:03 PM |

receiving yards are twice as many points. so 100 yards to gates is 4 pts for gates and 2 pts for rivers 10/6/2007 2:13:08 AM |

You are very slim at RB if you let go of Alexander even if you are getting Dunn back. He has been nothing special so far this year and will probably lose his roster spot later this year or next. If you could get Lynch in that deal then It would garner more serious consideration. I believe Rivers and the Chargers can turn things around although I don't think he'll be a top-5 QB he'll end up being decent.
