Do people in your league use trade vetos for strategic purposes? One of the guys in my league vetoed my trade because he thought it wasn't a "fair" trade. 10/24/2008 2:04:40 PM |

of course
you never know if people have behind the scenes shit going, ie "if you trade me MB3 and Brees for a kicker and defense, I'll give you part of the money when I win the league" 10/24/2008 2:07:12 PM |

So since "you never know", you just veto trades left and right?
I was of the impression that a veto vote meant you thought there was cheating or collusion. Not that you just oppose a trade because of your perception of it, etc. 10/24/2008 2:26:32 PM |

i don't, but if something seems really unfair i will
if a trade seems legit i don't have a problem with it
but if you're fighting for one of the last playoff spots, and a team you're competing with for that spot might gain a big advantage from a trade, some people will veto it 10/24/2008 2:28:40 PM |

Ok, that's just wrong IMO. The veto trade option isn't there for strategy...it's to prevent cheating. Whether a trade is "fair" is subjective...trades should be allowed for everyone if it's allowed at all, regardless of your record or your personal opinion of said team.
Anyways....I'm being veto'd on my Julius Jones + Breaston for Reggie Bush (I get) trade. 10/24/2008 2:43:13 PM |

in other news, Santonio Holmes got busted with 3 blunts and was "very cooperative and respectful"
NFL/Steelers won't do anything until after it runs its course in the legal system, which I'd assume will be pushed back to next year so it shouldn't affect his fantasy status
^that sounds like a fair trade to me
vetoing trades is kinda grey territory...if only the commish can veto, hopefully he's reasonable...if its based on league votes, that seems more democratic, but some people will veto a trade if they don't like it

^^that's a legit trade.....is your league set up where 1 veto can stop a trade? You should be able to set up a vote, or commish only veto.

yeah, I agree. It's for cheating, especially for those teams that are out of it near the end of the season and are just unloading their best players just for the hell of it, or because they know somebody else in the league
maybe a better idea is if a league got rid of the "veto" and gave players a value based on their league ranking and if the total value on each side of the trade isn't comparable, it won't be allowed... like the can't cut list10/24/2008 2:48:15 PM |

STUD RUNNING BACK UPDATE
Quote : | "Steven Jackson will be a game-time decision for Sunday’s game against the Patriots, according to the AP. He returned to practice on a limited basis Friday after sitting out the previous two days with a strained quad muscle, and coach Jim Haslett said, "It’ll be a game-day decision. He doesn’t need a lot of reps because he knows everything."
In the event that Jackson is unable to go Sunday, Travis Minor and Antonio Pittman would share the workload at running back." |
Quote : | "Clinton Portis fully practiced and is expected to start Sunday at Detroit, according to the Washington Post. He had been nursing various bumps and bruises, but coach Jim Zorn said, "He's getting better and better. He did everything. He didn't do it at full speed, but he's been getting all the work done. The thing about Clinton, he's worked his body hard."
Portis is leading the NFL with just over 23 rushing attempts per game, and should be headed for another strong outing as the Redskins aim to exploit the Lions' 31st ranked run defense." |

Who would you start start in the RB/WR spot
Vincent Jackson (London jet lag?) T.J. Houshmanzada (not sure palmers situation) Mewelde Moore (Giants have a real tough D)
Weird lineup I know, but both Grant and Peterson are on a bye this week. 10/24/2008 11:45:07 PM |

I have the same QB duo. I'm going with Garrard, since he's been improving, and is playing Cleveland. I'm favored by 47 as well, so I have some wiggle room to do this.
Now, I can't believe I'm even asking this. LT is so inconsistent this season, and as stated above, Mewelde Moore, who was fantastic for me last week, is starting. So, pick 2 RBs.
LT Vs. New Orleans Michael Turner Vs. Philly Mewelde Moore Vs. NYG
I'm pretty set on LT and Turner, logically, but Moore did have a hell of a week last week, and is projected to have more points than either of the other 2 RBs this week.10/25/2008 12:14:24 AM |

I've got Johnnie Lee Higgins as my backup WR and he's going to be returning kicks again this week. Return yards give the same amount of points as rushing yards in my league so I'm trying to decide if I should start him or a sick Derrick Mason. Oakland is @ Baltimore this week. i'm no expert or guru, so this is probably shitty advice
but with mewelde having such a great week last week, and being the #1 back for PIT this week with Parker being out....I don't see how you sit him, even against NYG. It's the steelers, they're going to run the ball.
but keep in mind, this is what I've told myself considering I too have to decide whether to play him this week 10/25/2008 12:52:17 PM |

Duece is the much safer pick here. I'm not exactly sure what the rest of your matchup looks like, but if this is a must win for you, I would absolutely go with Duece. Remember, the Pat's have a tested vet in Faulk and my inclination is that Faulk will get the majority of the carries somewhere along the lines of 60/40. Duece actually has a good chance of getting a goal line score here and will be used heavily.
No chance he is suspended for this game either. Go with Duece.10/26/2008 9:47:06 AM |

I have them ranked very close to one another.
Remember it's going to be another sloppy field in London, as it's been raining all day today.
Deuce may finish with more total yards, but I can easily see Stewart getting a goal line score or two and about 80 yards.
Start Stewart. 10/26/2008 11:26:26 AM |
