For such a great show 4 out of the 5 season finales have been a steaming pile of crap.
This is the equivalent of spending 2 months with Link trying to save Zelda and having Zelda being a cigar smoking Rosie O'donell.
Maybe I'll read up some more about it on the internet, but this is mega dumb. The only reason I'm watching season 6 is because I've watched the first 5. 5/13/2009 11:13:55 PM |

great episode, until that last minute or two. I'm sorry but the explosion doesn't really give me anything to look forward to, however, double Lockes is interesting. But, they should've introduced that idea 10 minutes earlier and expanded on it just enough to get me REALLY interested.
Yes, I'll be watching every episode of the last season, I was just disappointed with the way it ended. Also, is Sayid dead? Did Chang lose his arm?
And it took me a while to recognize Jacob but he was Rita's husband in Dexter, probably in other shit too but I haven't seen it if that's the case.

am I the only one who liked the season finale?
As soon as it started and we were introduced to Jacob, and some guy that obviously hated him, way back in the day I thought to myself, this is going to be the beginning of the end... what starts explaining everything.
And then the guy finds his "loophole" to kill Jacob.... who knows where it goes from now, I'm expecting things to wrap up pretty quick though.
And getting to see the (maybe) black rock floating in the background? I think Richard arrives on that boat...
Anyone else have to sit through girls crying at the end? 5/13/2009 11:35:41 PM |

didn't watch with any girls but the opening scene was probably the best of the entire episode. It's easy for them to say 'oh yeah Jacob was here when [insert character changing event here] happened', didn't they do that shit with those random 2 characters that died from spiders or whatever the hell? 5/13/2009 11:37:29 PM |

So when Locke and Ben went to the cabin the very first time, was it actually Jacob we heard or the other guy? Was the bad guy the one trapped by the ash circle? And I guess this might lead us to think that Christian was actually the bad dude reincarnated too?

they were part of the initial group at the end of last season that skipped back. Then they got separated from the rest of the group in the woods. Remember when Sawyer asked them "didn't you hear me say 'meet at the creek'?"
^ 17 episodes next season. Plenty of time to wrap things up, depending on where the story goes and how they pace it. But once they start explaining things, it's not like it takes too long to get most of the explanations out of the way.

I assume the Shadow of the Statue people, or whatever they're called
Quote : | "the whole rose/bernard/vincent thing was forced trash

that's true that it was unnecessary filler, but it's just one more thing to check of the list of "what happened to ___". If they never mentioned Rose/Bernard again, then that would be a lingering question, albeit a small, uninteresting one. But now that it's done, we don't have to go back to them probably until the end when everyone jumps back to the future or they are reunited or whatever happens.

Well I presume Rose and Bernard will be the "Adam and Eve" couple that they found near the caves in season 1.

I'm thinking they = black rock crew. and somehow richard, the dude from choke and the other chick are all either from or descendants of the black rock crew, who wants to, for some reason, kill jacob and the other guy from the first scene, but the other guy from the first scene obviously has his own motives to kill jacob, which will be explained in the next season (I hope).

oh, right....
Quote : | " So Jacob and Man #2 have always been on-Island, and have been unable to kill each other - much like the "rules" that seem to exist between Ben and Widmore. Jacob has been visiting our Survivors throughout their lives, perhaps even "pushing them" along their way to ensure they end up on-Island. But why? It seems that the net result of our Survivors getting on-Island thus far is Jacob dying (in the grand scheme of things). Heck, he seemed to bring Locke back to life after he was pushed out of the window by his father (PS - how many of the flashback scenes were you able to "call" beforehand? It's sad how easily I recognize things like background shots from two seasons ago... ) and that definitely eventually lead to Man #2 impersonating him and killing him. Bad move, Jacob.
I'm also guessing that Man #2 was actually the guy we saw in the Cabin (since as I noted in my episode preview, he kinda looked like him), but "escaped" thanks to the gap in the ash around the Cabin. He was then able to impersonate John Locke to manipulate Ben and find a loophole to kill Jacob. So Man #2 is the "bad guy" and Jacob was the "good guy"... but unfortunately now he's dead." |

Can anyone summarize the beginning with Jacob and the guy talking about the ship? Something along the lines of "You bring them here, they get corrupted, and we start over"?
Also, from some other sites, Richard's translation to "What lies in the shadow of the statue?" is "He who will save us all" 5/14/2009 12:02:43 AM |

the video was made after the incident, he mentions the incident more than once, right? as to whether the bomb helps or hurts, always happened or created a new timeline, etc etc, we will have to wati and see i guess
^somebody (jacob) making rope and sewing a tapestry, goes out and fries up a fish, stares at boat off in the distance, guy 2: how did they find the island?, jacob: ask them, guy 2: but i already know, you brought them (what kind of jerk asks a question he knows the answer to?), guy 2: they always bring chaos and it always ends badly, jacob: there is only one end, everything before is progress, guy 2: you have any idea how much i want to kill you?

I don't know. There are A LOT of unanswered questions: http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Unanswered_questions
So I don't get what the "soul eating" revelation is that Michael Emerson (Ben) was talking about in that interview. btw, what did Jacob mean when Ben asked him "What about me?" and Jacob said "What about you?" and Ben looked really confused?
Anyway, so far the only thing I can think of as a plausible explanation for the Locke imposter is the Smoke Monster. We already know that it can read people's memories and it can imitate the way people look. Additionally, the psuedo-Locke only showed up once the people were on the island, so assuming the Smoke Monster can't leave the island it could only show up when they crash on the island.5/14/2009 12:24:07 AM |

Quote : | "I don't know. There are A LOT of unanswered questions:" |
Yeah, and the writers know this, but to paraphrase their own words, some of the unanswered questions just really aren't that important.
Quote : | "Alex: One mystery that you said a month ago, in a Sky One interview, you were not going to show us is basically Libby's backstory, yet two seasons ago you basically said there was one significant missing piece from her story which is how she got from Desmond to the mental institution, and you also added that to know that answer, you had to show her story through another character's flashback. So, now that you've said that her story is done on the show, can you now tell us her missing piece and which character would you have told it through?
Carlton: Uhh, you know, again, these are not questions that we are going to answer. I think the point we were trying to make with the Libby story is that everything is graded in terms of importance for us, and, as we are doing the last season of the show, it's not going to be sort of a didactic, you know, here's a list of a thousand questions that we're going to answer. That would not make for a very entertaining show. We are focusing on what we consider to be the significant questions, and mysteries, and character relationships. That's the story that we're gonna tell. I think that the reference to Libby was more illustrative of the fact that I think, we accept the fact that in the end of the day there will, probably, you could ask a spectrum of a thousand different fans “Well what question did you not get answered?” and there might be a thousand different answers, but we are focusing on what we consider to be the main questions of the show and the main narritive. It's impossible to tie up every loose end, and we don't really consider, honestly, Libby's story is incredibly tangential to the principle action on the show. For us, the focus of the final season really has to be on the main characters and what would generally be acknowledged as the most significant mysteries." |
