That, and exploding telecom devices just screams Mossad. They've done it many, many times over a period of decades (albeit nothing like on this scale, to my knowledge.)

This also has the added advantage of disrupting their command and control and inducing disarray. If Hezbollah was buying a batch of 3000 pagers, I'm sure that means they are heavily relying on pagers as a means of communication to avoid using cell phones and radios, which are both very vulnerable to monitoring and location tracking. If they can't trust pagers either, then what? Couriers?

I also don't think it would be that technically difficult if you have the resources of a skilled state intelligence service. I think it would be logistically difficult and difficult to do while remaining clandestine.

In a way stuxnet makes sense since israel and the us compromised siemens parts in the supply chain of Iran building centrifuges. Here israel was able to penetrate the supply chains of pagers from taiwan

I think there was little or no supply chain sabotage in the case of Stuxnet.

Siemens provided information about the software/network architecture of the systems that allowed the coders to narrowly target the centrifuges. Then they infected everydamnthing with the code, but it was designed to only take effect on specific machines.
