1.8 is pretty awesome so far. I went sailing on the ocean for like 15 minutes, then saw a light UNDER THE WATER, which turned out to be an abandoned mineshaft.

Not sure if it's just a coincidence, but the terrain seems to be a lot cooler too.

Yes, I'm also pissed about the fog button being gone.

On the plus side, you can make a creative world and fly around checking out all the new features quickly and you can also speed up/reverse time with F6/F7.

Though sometimes I wish there was a strict version of minecraft where you couldn't fuck with the difficulty/time and it couldn't be modded. It's kind of like whenever I get cheat codes for a game, I become disinterested in playing the actual game.

I think he should add a cute girl at the beginning of the game that shows you how to play, then communicates with you via a walkie talkie throughout the rest of the game. Some cutscenes would help too, there aren't enough cutscenes in minecraft, it needs to be more linear to help the noobs.

Been playing 1.8 for hours, and so far I love pretty much all the changes.

Abandoned mines are awesome. Poison is awesome. Combat with the hunger system is a LOT better. There's currently no use for the experience system, but its unobtrusive. Added meats are awesome. Biomes are 1000x better. Shifted world height makes for much more interesting terrain.

Basically loving almost everything in 1.8. The server is buggy as fuck though

^ I have that problem too. You can't see anything when you're that deep. It makes it a pain in the ass to excavate and build. I think it's dumb that I can see the far side of a room while I'm walking down the stair case towards it, but not once I'm actually in the room.
