Gus' percussive delivery just doesn't work for a buildup game.

Bless him for trying.

To be fair, I think he wasn't sure if it was the final whistle or a whistle for Yaya being down.

"Mancini to stick with Pantilimon

(PA) Monday 6 May 2013

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini will not change his decision to leave Joe Hart out of his side for the FA Cup final.

Mancini has made it clear the England number one will not be in his starting line-up to face Wigan at Wembley on Saturday, preferring to reward Costel Pantilimon for his performances in getting City to Wembley.

The Romanian has played in all of City's domestic cup fixtures this season, and Mancini believes it would be unfair to alter his selection policy, despite Hart's disappointment.

When asked if he may be tempted to pick Hart for the final, the Italian said: "I don't think so, we decided this at the start of the season. Pantilimon deserves to play.

"Joe won the FA Cup two years ago, he won the Premier League last year, he is the best keeper in England and I think he should be happy his second keeper can play in a big game.

"I know he wants to play but we decided at the start of the season it was important for Pantilimon to play in the two cups.""

^ that was awesome

^^ I'm not saying I agree with it but City were terrible this year compared to last in what's been a down year for the league. Plus (and I know their groups have been tough but) they've been awful in Europe. You gotta improve every year with that kind of money spent and that roster.

Mancini was never a good manager to begin with. City were absolutely exhausted from last year's title challenge. That is why you have to admire Sir Alex. He motivates his teams like no other, hence the incredible consistency as well. City's players looked like they were done and mentally tired all season. I actually hate the fact that Mancini is gone. Pelligrini and Mourinho could do a much better job with that squad. Mancini is so tactically poor that a 15 year old kid that has played football manager his whole life could do a better job.

a prodigiously talented 15-year-old kid, maybe

I've always liked Mancini and am sorry to see him get the sack. It's hard for me to judge his merits as a manager: nothing he's done has really stood out too much either way. Perhaps he should've qualified for the CL Group Stages this year, but it was always going to be extremely tough in that group. (He's almost getting fired for that, I think: losing his job because his team happened to draw a CL group with two of the semifinalists.) And he won the Premier League last year: that's a mighty respectable achievement.

Anyway, firing your manager after one poor year is stupid. He's got the respect of the players and knows the ropes; give the man another season at least.

Fare thee well, Roberto Mancini

But Mourinho was a bust in Madrid?

I think the ownership had enough of Mancini whining and blaming everybody else when he had unlimited funds to build the exact squad he wanted. And they didn't just not advance out of the group stages, they were dead last in the group and didn't win a single game. That's just unacceptable.
