Germany was the better team. I feel kind of bad for Messi, because he seems like a nice guy and the expectations placed on him were probably unrealistic. He'll just have to go console himself with his $Texas.

by support I mean he doesn't have the type of players around him at Argentina that really seem to elevate his game. He's a great player but quite often he looks fairly lost or isolated with Argentina in comparison to his club team. Just the way it goes. Germany was definitely the better team and the best overall team in the tournament though.

he has done better and he had some really good moments and a few good goals here at this WC. There were still a lot of times where he just disappeared though. I'm not sure whether it was him, his teammates, the fact that the opposing mid is often focusing on him, etc. but probably some combination.

This World Cup was a rousing success on the field. I honestly think that a lot of people in the US had their eyes opened to the entertainment that soccer can provide.

As for the final, Gotze's goal was sick and Shurrle was driving me crazy with his erratic play. Messi did his part (outside missing that clear chance he had) and his teammates let him down imo. Higuain should have dribbled to pressure Neuer instead of hitting that half volley outside the box in the first half. Argentina probably goes up 1-0 at that point, then they can sit back and can settle into their gameplan, and we might have a different champion right now.
