This is why I know nothing about fashion. I don't get why a long dress is any more "fancy" than a short one now days.

Someone needs to buy my clothes for me and make me wear them.

If you're only gonna wear the thing once, why not do something like rent the runway?

I did it for my bridal shower, loved it.

Long is definitely the way to go for the military formal. There will be cocktail dresses, but you stick out more. Plus, how often do you get glammed up for a night after college is over?

Rent the Runway won't really work for me because of how petite I am. Even with 5-inch heels, all the dresses on RTR will be way too long. I have to have everything hemmed.

I like some of the dresses Diva listed, but sizing is tough. I am a 0P or 2P and most of the time women's sizes swallow me whole. The Ralph Lauren dress is amazing, but sizing is a problem. The Peplum dress would be way to much fabric for my frame and end up making me look squatty and wide. I like the Nicole Miller, but it's a little too plain to pay so much (does that make sense?)

My dress last year was from Cache.

I think this would look amazing on you:

But it's probably too plain for a ball... so this one is shiny:

are you sure the wedding invites have been sent out? are there special circumstances that she can't invite you for (super intimate wedding, they are eloping, etc) or are you just being snubbed?

If you're sure about the snubbing, I would go to the shower, not bring a present, and eat all the food.

I think 2 months is the rule for invites, and not everyone uses save the dates.

^ true. Save the dates are traditionally for out-of-town guests only. And people can wait as long as 6 weeks before the wedding to send out invites.

kinda thinking I want "pearls". I need something for the red and white ball tomorrow.

Where are those? I love the cheap places, because I usually buy for specific events, then never wear it again and give it to my mom.

speaking of purses...

i got this Rebecca Minkoff MAC mini crossbody today. i like that its small but has enough room to carry essentials and that it zips (especially since i spend most of my time walking around/bussing/metroing it around) and that i can adjust the strap to go from crossbody to a shoulder bag.
