Being a very passionate state fan and swpc member I want to make one thing clear, I do not hate maryland because they beat us. I don't hate maryland because it is a rivalry. I hate maryland because they always act disrespectful, with no class whatsoever, and their athletic program (win or lose) is a complete joke because of this. They deserved the shit being thrown at them regardless of the way it makes us look. They are arrogant assholes and eventhough they created a sour note to my last home game as a student, I will always be a diehard state fan win or lose and I will never act as fucking retarded as their fans or players.

Note to Maryland: If you want to see an example of class see a one Mr. Philip Rivers. This man has more class and talent than your entire athletic program will EVER have!!!!

wow, way to blow what i'm saying out of proportion... i want to se humor injected into the game... it's not like this is a one-event opinion either... i would love to see the return of light-hearted mischief in sports...

i want to hear stories like when Cal Tech hacking into the scoreboard at the another school's football game and having the scoreboard declare Cal Tech the winner (Cal Tech has no football team)...

i want to hear about a football team instituting a voluntary hazing that consists of players dressing up as clowns and running around campus through cream pies at each other...

nowadays everything has to be edgy and violent... rivalries have to be about hatred, rather than oneupmanship... it takes the fun out of sports...

and that's why we have college athletes comparing what they do to being at war, refering to themselves as soldiers... it's why we have classless displays made like what maryland did made by teams all across the country... because it's the mentality that the last 20 years has created in most sports... it's not about how much fun you have on the field, it's who you hurt and how much money you made doing it...

Timswar, do you have friends in the band? If so, do they not participate in things outside of the games? That comment was made regarding our general demeanor. I could adopt you mentality in this situation and say stuff like "all engineers are boring stiffs because they take hard classes which require lots of work". This could be assumed from what we see on the outside (posted degree requirements). However, if you actually knew a group of engineers, more than likely some of them would not follow this pattern. Whether you can tell or not, we can be a partyin bunch of mofos. Yes, the shows are traditional. You want humor in the games, go to the Ivy League. Or watch old XFL reruns.

but honestly, you cannot look at the current sports environment and not wonder why things have gotten so serious, why every game is now treated like a battlefield...

semloh, that really shows it all quite accurately concerning the pregame "festivities." clearly the announcer can be heard saying "leave the field" and clearly MD stays ON THE FIELD running plays.

if only the tape got the MD guy rushing the drummer.

as well, coaches can be seen taunting fans at the end of the game, too. I'm going to save that video. give us ammo
