I didn't dislike Bruce Willis' performance, but he wasn't old enough for the part. It should have been Clint Eastwood, but it would be unrealistic to expect him to take that part.

I saw it, and thought that it was well done. I just hate the fact that I went to see Sin City with my friends. They ruined the experience. I'm never going to see a movie with them ever again.

By the way, I'm buying it on DVD the day that it comes out.

My favorite on the way out was a girl who said "I didnt like that all the women in the movie were either dikes or hookers"

At which point I laughed in her face

I just got done watching this movie. I came in with high expectations, and I was not dissapointed in the least. I wish there were more movies like this one.

i though madsen was horrible, murphy was horrible

the movie was visually stunning, and i really REALLY liked Rourke's Marv character. Jessica Alba was just sorta "there," not all that great. Josh Hartnett was good in his few moments, and I thought that Bruce Willis, despite him not fitting the correct age, was really on top of his game here. Benicio was stellar as always. elijah wood was fucking evil.

I didnt think it was the best movie i've seen, despite the gimmick of the nuevo-noir look. it was good, and i'll leave it at that.

2 out of 4 stars. not bad, not great.

i'm just not a big fan of frank miller's works in graphic novels, so i'm not surprised that this movie, while entertaining for a couple of hours, didnt impress me THAT much.

i'd do it better, but my scale has more give to it

7.9 / 10

definatly worth seeing, dunno about how it would hold up under repeat viewings but it was very good the first time through....

4/4 stars EASILY, favorite line in the whole movie (which isnt exactly how it was said, but it went something like) "eatin' people is weird" when marv was talking about elijah wood's character, CLASSIC.

I guess I'd rate it 3 out of 4 stars. Holy shit that movie was violent. I liked most of the characters, but none of them really sucked me in.

as a avid follower/collector of the Sin City stories and a HUGE Frank Miller fan...i fucking loved this movie.

I haven't seen a movie this badass in a long time. There wasn't any lag in action throughout the movie.

Very true to the comic books...awesome movie.

Well I'm definitely picking up the DVD...

http://dvd.ign.com/articles/600/600858p1.html

Quote :
"Sin City is based on three graphic novels by Frank Miller (who also co-directed the project). For the feature film, Rodriguez and Miller tied the three books together so that they could flow together as one movie. For the DVD, however, viewers will have the option of watching the whole film together or watching each book separately as they appeared in the novels, complete with new footage.

"We shot the full stories of the books," Rodriguez says. "And I knew we could truncate it down, we weren't going to lose any scenes. Eventually they would all be available for people to see. The DVD will come out with the theatrical cut, and then there will be a separate disc that's got the individual episodes separate with their own title card and you could just watch The Big Fat Kill from beginning to end in its full cut as a single story and then switch over and watch The Yellow Bastard, and that's 45 minutes. It will have all the material back in, so it will be like the experience of picking up the books where you pick up one story and you read it from beginning to end and it will have all the material in it. So you can kind of shuffle your own version of the movie and just watch them all separately."

Marv (Mickey Rourke) had the greatest lines in that movie. He's one reason why I will watch this movie again in theatres, and buy the DVD.

i thought murphy actually did pretty well in this one, though i may just be comparing her to her other shitty roles and interpreting her being decent as her being good

Yeah, Madsen as Bob sucked horribly, i'll definitely agree to that

they captured the feel of the comics EXACTLY, very good directing, incredible casting, and decent editing, though when Wendy was beating Marv i noticed the blood being in different places everytime it went back to him

Wood's role made me realize he probably would have made a good Spider-Man too

and GOD DAMN this movie was filled with hotties

it said guest director quentin tarantino, which part of if did he direct?

any word on if they will cover any of the other story arcs in other movies?

^apparently, he directed the benecio del toro & clive owen scene
(in the car, talking)

of course, bartleby will probably come in and correct me

and yeah, i'd love love love for them to cover some of the other stories...
i've only read a couple books

but was hartigan's partner the same cop who winds up falling for the woman in "A dame to kill for"

i loved the dwight role, so i'd love to see that one wind up in a movie

Sin City pulled 29.1 million this weekend... not bad for a movie with this much graphic content...IMDB lists the movie budget at 45mil so it should make a profit easily. Rodriguez has already expressed a desire to turn every Miller novel into a movie at some point!! The possiblity of this happening seems highly likely!

now THAT would be hot

oh, and this was a stellar film. I've been reading frank miller books since I was in seventh grade back in like 92 and I always knew they could make a killing on the big screen. I'm glad he's finally getting the credit he deserves.

I think Rodriguez was talking about just wanting to do all the SIN CITY stories as movies. Darren Aronofsky was at one point supposed to being doing YEAR ONE, but that fell through.

PERFECT.

but as much as i liked michael madsen in "Resevoir Dogs", he just didn't fit.

how many total "Sin City" stories has Frank Miller written and is he still writing them?

god this movie better win some academy awards, unfortunately they might get fucked over.

from moviepoopers.com

Quote :
"First and Final segment: It turns out that The Salesman is a peacemaker in Sin City; he keeps certain cockroaches (like Becky) permanently quiet. That is why he kills the unknown girl in the beginning, and that is what he does to Becky at the end (though not onscreen). "

Just saw it, I thought it was good, although a few questions:

1) Why did Hardigan's partner shoot him at the beginning? I'm assuming he was paid off by the senator or his son, but I wasn't sure.

2) wtf was Kevin? Was he just a messed up human? If so how was he jumping all over the place like that?

3) Did anyone else thing that the senator's son (when he was yellow) looked like a Ferengi from Star Trek?

1) yeah, thats why he was trying to talk hardigan out of going in there before backup arrived

2) he was just jumping around like that because he was all quiet and stealthy and agile and stuff like that, like a cat or something (he even had the nails/claws thing going on)

3) haha, i was wondering why the yellow guy looked familiar, i just couldn't place what he looked like
