I'm working on a script where a girl from Kansas gets magically transported via a cyclone to a place called Oz. From there she befriends a talkative scarescrow, a hell bent tin man, and a cowardly lion of th forest. They have to travel to a big place that is all green called the Emerald City so that the heroine can get home, using her ruby slippers. I am not sure yet if the villan will be called the Wicked Witch of West or Crone of the Flying Monkies.

My working title is: Workin' Girl

I would say it was a little more than a cameo because he was in it for more than a few seconds and more than once.

i wasnt signaling out any group member or trying to be mean, all i did was post this initial post with my honest opinion of the movie.

Brandon, I was at the premiere, but had to leave before I could tell you how cool I thought the movie was. I feel like people are expecting some George Lucas mircale movie and that they don't realize that maybe Ridley Scott makes epic films because he only chooses projects that are epic. To write, create, and direct your own film not only takes guts. It takes heart and some college guy that says that it isn't as good as a movie that he has made obviously has not tried to make a movie that isn't a music video, or at least has had more time to write/produce/direct. Let's at least be fair here people. I personally thought it was done quite well, but at the very least you should think about what you've done. It's only fair, to the entire team.

I disagree, To put yourself out there takes a lot more than a lot of people have. It took guts to try to put together a full length feature for sure. At least give it a damn chance instead of fucking trashing it all over the place. Because that accomplishes a lot.

you don't understand. We're not saying it doesn't take guts or there wasn't any effort...we're saying the story was weak, the pace was horrible. all in all it wasn't a good movie, period.

So I have the balls to record a song and make a CD. If it sucks, doesn't matter what kinda effort I put into it, it sucks and people aren't going to like it.

I undestand, I think that there are just ways of saying that...what you said is good, saying it "fucking sucks" isn't necesarily constructive. So I was just saying that maybe it would be good to at least be fair about it, I guess. It's just to the ones that have nothing to say besides lowering their head, putting their angry face on and saying they hate it.

Even with everything said, come August you guys should get together again and write another script.

Next April, I'll hope to see another film at Witherspoon and I will be there. Don't let all this discourage you, let it encourage you to do things differently and learn from the mistakes of this one. And good luck to you.

You see, nc state has a problem with hating.

I don't know Brandon. I do know that Brandon goes to NC State or in some form associated with it. If he ever makes it big like Lucas or Spielberg, he'll have this movie to talk about. Kinda like Jim Carey being booed off stage. Or Einstein having trouble with math. Or Jordan not making it to the basketball team (no one noted that he was a freshman and it was the varsity team he was going for). Or Jewel the singer used to live in a trailer. Or Clay Aiken used to live in Raleigh.

Given the amount of money and time constraints, I'm guessing it's good. Tell Lucas to do star wars while taking college classes and having a budget of maybe 15 bucks. Well...Lucas may have a talent of drawing the audience in and force them to feel the emotions felt by the characters regardless of the budget, but still it would be crucial. Do note, people thought the second and third matrix sucked! Some people are just picky about movies.

Whatever the case I still haven't seen the dang movie. Someone post a clip of it that you think is good? I sure know I won't make it as a film maker, or a basketball player, or any sports for that mattter, or anything singing, or anything remotely famous, so I hope the best to those who are closest to me and moving on outward...Me...my family...my circle of friends...people who are friends with me on facebook...people who live in the same dorm as me...people who went to my high school...my college...people in my city...my state...my country...my planet...my solar system...my quadrant...my galaxy...my universe...etc.

there's a difference between constructive criticism and hatin'. hatin' is when you are jealous that your backyard video camera recording didn't make it to witherspoon while Brandon's did.

^I personally don't think you were hating. You have to understand though, Brandon can't make everyone happy. Just as if you were in his spot I don't think you can either. When the credits roll it will be his name that's attached to how good or how bad that movie is, so I think it makes sense that he goes with his ideas instead. I just saw the trailer with no sound, I thought it was good. Can someone please tell me where I can get a full copy. Perhaps Brandon would be a good person to ask?

There are good things and there are bad things about any movie. Some people like it some people don't. The key is to get as many people to like it as possible, even better, get as many people interested in it enough to pay 7 bucks to see it. If I was a director, I would listen and maintain the good BUT at the same time heed the criticisms well instead of arguing against it. Because if I could change* the movie to appease one person's criticism it would mean a possible one more 7 dollars. *(this change of course should not compromise the good things that would remove the people who like it. kinda like if lucas were to listen to my ideas which will end up gaining 7 more dollars but lose like millions.)

okay I just saw the trailer with sound. that's more like a quick teaser (not sarcasm, it's an actual word) than a trailer. cause I have no idea what the story is about after seeing the trailer. Person X trains to accomlish Y? Will person X make it? Or Person Z got too drunk? Someone's grade went down? Someone got pregnant? Someone's close friend die? I don't have a clue. What's going on in the library? I'm not asking for the whole story but I am asking for some kind of a main plot line that makes me want to go see it to see what happens.

This is not Salvation Army Tee-ball. You don't get a trophy just for playing. Is it quite a feat to complete a feature on a shoestring budget while in college? Absolutely. I applaud Brandon and his team for just that, completing a feature while in college with no money. However, that doesn't carry over to the content of the movie. I can easily look past technical problems if the script is great, but it isn't. It's impressive that they got this thing done, but no one deserves an extra pat on the back for making a bad movie.
