WARNING SPOILER
I am still unclear as to how there were 2 houses at the end. I get the whole it wasn't live thing. The main character goes to one, then the swat goes to some other one. And aparently the one that the main character goes to is connected to that, what I had figured to be, run down subway bathroom.

I hope the new "game" (at the end of the movie) isn't a lame repeat of the first one.

Here's the deal on the houses. The swat team got the "feed" from a house on like 237 North Hyde Road. They went there, and NOTHING was at that house EXCEPT VCR's broadcasting that "feed". The house that John led the cop to was the correct house. There's your 2 houses.

If a Saw 3 comes out, it'll start with girl's victim #2, and maybe flashback to the cop's outcome. They'd never run another sequal in the same area that Saw 1 happened in.

But the house swat went to was an identical house inside, right? Or was I seeing things

I was also amazed it wasn't some really intricate plan to trap them all. I thought that it was going to start all over for the swat team when they pulled off the cover.

Nah, not identical. Maybe similar....they didn't show much of that house besides the room w/ the computer monitors. Maybe just the dark, creepy environment led one to "beleive" they were "there".

haha - that was funny how long it took them to find where the [ old ] video streamed from & then, for that to STILL not help a damned thing ( can't they trace phone calls in less than a minute? )

anyway - i try not to trip about logical fallacy too much, as long as the movie's still intelligent, overall.

I hear ya alex.

My only guess there is the swat team has nothing to go on now really...it's not like they were given any clues to where the real junk was going down. That van outside was easily moved away by the junkie chick most likely.

One key point that hinted at the chick "being in on it": the moment that "father & son" picture was found she broke that chick's neck and then started protecting the kid with all her might. She "revealed" that hidden door as soon as she could to ensure only her and the kid got out. Still, I was guessing this entire movie and couldn't have been more wrong.

Here was my (wrong) guess at the ending: I thought John would lead the cop to the house, he'd unlock the door, and BAM, that one remaining strong guy (who cut a chunk from his neck) would be like "you SOB, you're the cop who framed me" and he'd just kill the cop and John would have another victim. That would've been cool if the cop walked into one of those he framed and got killed, but the ending worked out awesome.

EDIT: All I know is that after seeing "Criminal Minds" like 2 weeks ago, this one criminal routed his phone through like all these weird phone terminals (he worked at a phone company) and they never could trace it. I'd imagine John knew a nigga who could do that for him or something

that would ROCK if the s.w.a.t. team ended up being in the jigsaw test b/c one of Saw's major themes was to show how the detectives etc. failed miserably in playing jigsaw's "game" ( except, eventually - danny glover ) i mean, in a way, they were a part of the game anyways.

OH SHIT - did she? i didn't catch that subtlety but i don't doubt you are right - it did seem possible in how i remember that scene & how her neck moved.

didn't the syringe (sp?) the chick found in the needles with the key have the antidote? i didn't see anyone jump on that

^ Good call, I just assumed they were all empty, used, and diseased needles. Clearly I was wrong b/c the chick didn't die from diseases.

^^ Yeah, I realized as soon as the first guy's number showed up that someone would hafta end up helping someone read their neck to get it. The whole movie I realized they went about the whole thing wrong. They went in trying to find ONE needle just for them, rather than teamwork. Look, the guy in the stove should've just got ONE (he knewwwwwww the 2nd one was trapped), got out, and GAVE IT AWAY. Now that person who got saved would owe him one. That glass box should just been busted w/ that bat to get that needle. They just went about things the wrong way.

spoiler alert
the needle came from the safe, before xavier got into the room, there were 2 ancedotes in the safe, she must of known the combination and got the needles before he got in the room, thats why the boy lived longer and easier then everyone else. OR they had the ancedote before they all woke up

Because it's like any door with a standard locking doorknob and then a seperate "deadbolt'

Think about this: if you're inside and you lock that deadbolt. And your roomate is outside w/ your key, he can unlock the doorknob but he'll still never get in. 3 minutes and that deadbolt slid shut.

it's almost IMPOSSIBLE for a group of people in such a dilemna to be succesful. if you've seen the movie Cube, the autistic guy is the only person that survived. that's mostly b/c not only was he crucial in helping them escape ( he was a math genius ), he also posed NO threats to anyone elses chances for survival. he basically seemed retarded to the other people in the Cube.

those kinds of threats were a' plenty in Saw 2 dilemna.

chickenhead, good call. As a matter of fact, during the movie I said that Xavier was just like the black dude in Cube (who tossed that white lady at the end out near the wall).

And Cube isn't "better" than Saw/Saw II, but it's GREAT in its own merit. Cube: Zero does an excellent job of explaining the behind the scenes stuff (it's a prequel). Cube 2: Hypercube was a letdown. Cube, then Cube:Zero, is a solid 2 movies to watch back to back. Rent them ASAP. They're older, but the idea is great.

The boy was probably breathing a gas similar to that in a dentist's office to keep you "knocked out", so he wasn't totally aware of his surroundings.

i can't really chose b/w Saw or Cube - they were both creatively impressive to me. ( i can say that Saw2 was WAAAY better than the sequels to Cube ). both movies were done w/ little $ but Cube is Sci-Fi. In fact - the Sci-Fi channel shows Cube a lot so check for it showing on there.

also, Cube had NO outside characters - just the people trapped in the Cube, which was important in making it such a good movie.

AHAHAHA

some girl actually walked the fucked out of the theater today

we were laughin loud as fuck at her

but this movie kicked ass.

in the theater.

i think if I saw it in my living room without the sound turned up to 11(etc.), it would have been a lot shittier

the female cop was HORRIBLE...we laughed out loud at her fucking acting

also

TOO MANY fucking scenes with people coughing up motherfucking blood.

yea, we get it. this gas is fucking with these people.

the 23423234 cuts to the characters with them coughing up blood were unneccessary.

^ That was supposed to clue you in that "oh snap, the one chick NOT coughing up blood is the junkie".

EDIT: Not to get too far off track, but OMG "Hostel" (in the previews) will rule. A Tarantino film like this? The man knows no boudaries, thus will make this film rule. Esentially a deathhouse in which you pay the owner cash to use his tools to mutilate whomever you choose...and it's done by the amazing Lions Gate Films. Dec. 21st, I'm there:

she was in the original too. not enough to notice her lack of acting skills though....... since i learned from the first Saw, the acting won't matter to me, i went into the sequel with this attitude.

Quote :

god damn - people criticize Saw so much, there's no way for it to be perfect. if they weren't coughing up blood 23432343 times, you'd complain it wasn't logical or realistic that they were dying from the serum.

[Edited on October 29, 2005 at 1:09 AM. Reason : & the blood coughing happened TOPS, like 8 times]

^ What dissapointed me about that was the kid (who ended up in the safe at the end) had VERY SHORT HAIR. There's no doubt SOMEBODY would've seen a random number on the back of his neck. I mean, at least the bald guy had a hoodie to cover his junk up.

EDIT: Regardless, the movie just plain worked. I loved it. It was better than the hype.

all of this further proves my point..... too many characters stuck in such a dilemna together only attribute to a factorial's worth of "what-if" scenarios for people to question regarding the film.
they should know to keep it simple like they did in the original Saw.

^ I actually think they did a STELLAR job keeping this one realistic. The most glaring proof of this was not everyone found their tape in the house. It's highly unlikely everyone would've found their tape. And I loved how Xaiver's tape was behind that beast of a door that only he could open.

It was just a really, really great movie.

I thought it was pretty good with keeping you guessing and ending in the same room as teh first was a great twist.

one question though:

I dunno if this has been asked yet, but If Dr. Gordon never got away alive, wouldn't they have run into his body in the hallway leading into the bathroom chamber from the first movie?

damn good movie
i like how thought provoking it was
the evil dude, Jigsaw or whatever was sick which made you feel some sort of pity, made him more human to me
i flinched when the cop was kicking his ass because i felt sympathy!
jigsaw was a genius and had real reasons and lessons behind what he did, although they were horribly taught

i think the worst for me was the girl sticking her hands into the glass box, i had to flinch
just completely oblivious and not thinking clearly, damn crazy

its refreshing to know that good movie writers exist, and that fresh material isnt dead
