when I went to download itunes, it forced me to put the serial number of the shuffle into the fucking thing.
what the fuck do you think you're doing when you're going through all that crap. Why does OneCare Live always tell me that itunes is trying to connect to the internet when its not even running?
"iTunes Bonjour Service" bullshit. 10/30/2005 9:20:54 PM |

I downloaded a copy at a friend's house just this afternoon and didn't have to enter a damn thing. No email address, no registration code, no serial number, nothing. Never once have I had to in the last 5 years of using iTunes.
As for the Bonjour service ... it's pretty gay when it tries to snoop around and see who else is on when iTunes isn't even running. But once iTunes is running and you want it to do the snooping, that implementation of zeroconf or whatever is damn near flawless. Connecting to other peoples' iTunes libraries and playing their music is completely smooth. 10/30/2005 10:18:44 PM |

Difficult to really get "infected with spyware" when I'm installing it right off the fucking CD that came with the shuffle. When I get back, I'll do it again and screen shot it.
I remember having to do it because the fucking ser# is so goddamned small on the thing and I damn near invisible so I had to get my girlfriend to read the number for me since my eyes suck.
Not only that, but when I had to download some kind of software update for my gf's brother's regular ipod, I had to login with his apple account that was linked to HIS serial number on his ipod.
All of which == fogghatry. 10/30/2005 10:32:10 PM |

that isn't itunes that is ipod updater which only makes sense to register it. besides, why are you installing off the CD? those are always outdated before they even ship. 10/30/2005 10:36:35 PM |

If it's actually iTunes that you're installing from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ then that's the first time I've ever heard of that. Shit, what if you don't have an iPod? Does it still ask you for your serial number?
I've never seen or heard of any registration with iTunes. 10/30/2005 11:14:39 PM |

i've been able to use iTunes without a serial number for quite some time now (through three updates). I could see if they require the serial number to upload to an ipod or to register the ipod but not to use the software (that's maugan's retard side getting out). 10/31/2005 3:09:40 AM |
