Another Bump!
I got a ticket, but I think the cop wrote down the wrong posted speed limit.
Is there somewhere online that I can go to find out what the speed limit is at a specific mile marker on a specific highway?
Or, if someone lives in Vance County and wants to give me a pm.

I need to know how long I have to be there to ask for a continuance? Can I just hit up the D.A. at 8:00 a.m. or do I have to ask for my name to be called? Could be an issue if I'm there past 11:30.

If you go to court and plead not guilty what happens then? does the judge schedule another court date based on the officer's availability? So he can show and say what happened? 2/11/2008 9:46:51 AM |

bring this shit back to the top.
ok, on my bday in 2005 (feb 16th) got pulled on my way to class. 40 in a 25, reduced to 34 in court. first offense ever. supposedly, if i kept my record clean for 3 years, it would disappear.
fuckin a, 2 weeks before the 3 year point, i get fuckin pulled. 64 in a 55.
thing is, the first offense was in NC under an NC license. 2nd offense was in SC under a SC license. any chance ill be able to beat the system and get another PJC? or is the PJC some shit they only do in nc/raleigh? 2/21/2008 12:50:16 PM |

First one three weeks ago in Virginia for going 14 over in a 60. Second one Sunday in Yadkinville for going 14 over in a 65. HALP! The NC ticket was from a state trooper, and he said that if i showed up for the court date, they would most likely dismiss the ticket because he marked it as routine and that I didn't give him any trouble. Do you think that will be the case when they see I received a ticket just two weeks prior? Should I get a lawyer? Lawyers? I have never gotten a ticket before and don't know people who have, so I need all the advice I can get. Plz plz plz. 2/21/2008 2:27:44 PM |

yep, push it off until after your first one is off your record, then talk to the DA, tell him your record is clean and see what they'll do for you
if they won't do something reasonable then get a lawyer and he'll take care of it.

I don't know anything about VA other than they make the national news for having the most ass raping traffic violation fines in the country. Based on that I would say yes.
I would even get a lawyer for the NC one if you might have to drive down there for court. I mean gas is $3 a gallon. Odds are if you fight it at all, its gonna get continued, then you have to go again. Pay a professional whose office is a block over from the courthouse to deal with that shit. 2/21/2008 3:43:47 PM |

I would get a lawyer for both tickets. They will know the local traffic policies and laws better than anyone on here.
It is rare to actually see a ticket dismissed. Most likely, you can get it reduced or receive an improper equipment.
If you get two reductions, you will get an insurance increase. 2/22/2008 11:52:18 AM |

i got a ticket in virginia last night. 75 in a 55. the rule to my understanding is, over 20 is reckless, but at exactly 20 over its just speeding. the officer (and i know they will lie to your face) told me i dont have to go to court, just pay the fine ($100). there are two conflicting pieces of advice i've heard that i'd like to clear up:
1) send in the payment and forget about it 2) get a lawyer, take a class (pay more money)
i've only gotten one ticket in nc before and did pfj many years ago, so not experienced with this. any tips?
thanks. 3/1/2008 1:33:33 PM |

virga you need to go to the clerk of courts office and file a motion and they will give you another court date. It is really easy to do.
I would do it immediately because once they send your failure to appear to the DMV your license will get suspended and then you are gonna have to pay to get it reinstated or hire a lawyer. 3/1/2008 2:57:30 PM |

So yeah got a ticket for 79 in a 65 (I was NOT going that fast but I guess that doesn't matter).
I think I have a PJC on a prior ticket in pitt county thats still in effect until June, so basically I need to get this dropped.
I know my speedometer is faulty by at least 3-5 mph, I'm on stock wheels/tires, so its not like I've got some weird wheel variance to blame.
If I get this documented could I use that to get it reduced/dropped by the Wake county DA? 4/15/2008 11:19:48 PM |

The faulty speedometer will not get you out of a ticket in Wake County. The normal 14 over would be dropped to a 9 over which means no fine for people with a first ticket.
It seems that you could get the ticket for june delayed so the prayer is erased in pitt county. Then you would be able to get the current ticket reduced to 9 over in wake county. 4/16/2008 1:28:09 AM |

I was considering that, I'm going to check to see when that PJC comes off and then try delaying the court date till after then. Would I need a lawyer to go do that? 4/16/2008 8:07:27 AM |

I've never dealt with wake county before and sure can't remember what I did for my last PJC in pitt county. Can I just go by the DA's office to ask for a PJC and pay my shit or do I need to go on the court date or get a lawyer or whatever to do it? 4/16/2008 10:14:44 AM |
