Let me rephrase....

In comparison of all Div. 1 basketball teams, no we are not mediocre.

However, when you stack us up against the top 65 teams in the country, we are mediocre. we got into the tournament as a 10 seed (which is a total insult seed for a power conference), we lost both games to carolina, 2 to wake and once to duke. Herb is dispassionate, boring, and frankly just an "ok" coach.

and why the hell CAN'T we get a good coach?? Everyone assumes that this is some total impossibility. We are in the ACC, which is the cream of the college basketball crop, we play in the RBC center, we have some of the nicest training facilities in D1, we have a history and a legacy that is hard to match. I totally believe that there is a coach out there that is hungry and WANTS to compete against the best there is.

If expecting my coach to go farther than the first or second round, beat the rivals occasionally and yes, get to the final four and compete for a national title, then I am guilty. NCSU should be mentioned in the conversations of those that debate who will win the national title every year and as long as Herb is the coach, that is not going to happen.

why is it that anyone that questions Herb is labled as a "bad fan"? When Herb got hired he was who we SETTLED for. don't forget that the alumni and most of the fan base was trying to go after John Calipari. And while he sucked ass in the NBA, you will notice that he currently has a #1 seed in the tourney.

and conference affiliation absolutely affects seeding. Maybe not officially, but historically, the 10-16 seeds are rarely given to schools out of the power conferences.
