On top of that is all the players that have played here and their successes and failures. That is our program. Our program will not die. We will grow and get more Chris Wrights in the future."

....sounds like the typical "coach speak" that you people over there always referred to when bashing Herb

pretty played out, dude

The kitchen? Herb lived within the oven for 10 years. When you spend more of your time fending off fan attacks and questions about your future with the program than coaching the game of basketball, it's time to move somewhere where your talents will be appreciated.

Oh my fucking god.

If Chris Wright doesnt want to play here then fuck him.

He is ranked fucking 30th.

Do I want him to leave? NO!

But quit acting like this guy is the second coming.

Simmons & Costner were BOTH ranked higher than this guy.

Mustafa Shakur was a top five guy, and he really didnt pan out at all.

Scooter was ranked higher and he was a fucking 2 year role player.

Cliff motherfucking Crawford was ranked almost as high as this guy.

Marshall Williams was ranked as high as this guy.

Damien Wilkens was ranked #1 OVERALL by some people and Herb Sendek ran him off.

Julius Hodge was ranked higher than this guy and he had a good career overall, but struggled at times.

Brandon Fuss-Cheatem was ranked as high as this guy.

Mike Nardi was ranked as high as this guy.

Who the fuck cares? Now that we have an opening at the PG spot, we'll be in the running for other top PG recruits. What the fuck was this guy going to do under Herb anyway?

If Chris Wright doesn't want to play for State, fuck him.

If you want to go cheer for Herb or for Chris Wright, awesome. Go cheer for their new teams.

Just don't fucking show your face when Fells, Costner, & Grant are balling out next year.

Isn't Wright ranked #30 as a junior?

So wouldn't it move up in next year's rankings? Considerably? Possible top 15 talent?

Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Um, i dont have the rankings in front of me or anything but Im assuming they mean he's top 30 in his class.

So no, his ranking would not rise (unless of course it rises due to his performance next season and this summer)

Aiighty. I wasn't sure.

I thought he was just ranked #30 out of all the players that are ballin' right now. He will be missed, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

30th is his lowest ranking by any publication. He's 16 on rivals. His composite ranking will be the third highest out of all of Herb's recruits (Damien Wilkins being the most overrated piece of shit ever). But he will be the highest ranked point guard we've had since Fire. Crawford was maybe top 50 by most publications....so was Fuss-Cheathem, maybe top 40 for him...so I don't know where you're getting your information from. Marshall Williams was a 30-40 guy by one publication, top 60-70 on most...he was the top player in Wisconsin...big fucking whoop (also, he wasn't a point guard). Mike Nardi was a top 60-75 guy...so you're wrong again. And he should move up in the next installment of everyone's rankings because he had a fucking kick-ass junior year and has been getting rave reviews from the experts.

Chris Wright not coming here is huge. Especially if he goes to Wake Forest and beats our ass for 2 or 3 years.

It's official by the Charlotte Observer - Wright is gone.

[quote]A day after coach Herb Sendek decided to leave N.C. State for Arizona State, the Wolfpack's top recruit in the class of 2007 said he has withdrawn his commitment. Chris Wright, a 6-foot-1 junior point guard from St. John's College High in Washington, D.C., said Sunday he will reopen his recruitment. Wright said that though Sendek wasn't the sole reason for his commitment, he was a significant factor.

you are missing rally's point, to place a recruit that is coming here in 2 fucking years as a reason not to change coaches, or to be mad, or as the main reason you think we should have kept Herbie is just fucking absurd, and ignorant....

kid may be good, may be a dud, that is how recruiting works, kid is 16 fucking years old, maybe 17 and you all have all your hopes placed in him to beat duke/carolina

lets get a fucking fantastic coach, and we will have 100's or recruits fawning over US! and this guy will be nothing more than a memory!

If he does not want to come here when we get a new coach, FUCK HIM, FUCK HIM RIGHT UP HIS FUCKING ASS

because this change will only make us better, and he is a true point guard, so if he does not want to ride along in the new system then good luck wherever else you go Chris!

first of all... Wright doesn't have half the hype that Paul had. I've watched him play Dematha, and I'll admit he was awesome and better then Munson(VT) or Freeman(Georgetown) but Paul was the number 1 pg in his class

secondly... what the fuck did he help Wake get? One sweet sixteen appearance?

Yeah, Chris Paul was a top 5 recruit and a NPOY candidate as a Soph. If Wright is on that level then yes, losing him is gonna haunt us. But nothing indicates that he is a player of Paul's caliber.

If Paul had come here we might have won a championship. Just look at how much better Wake was with him than without him, and how much better the Hornets are with him than without him.

You cant base a program's future on an unproven player unless Lebron James has promised you at least 2 years. That's ridiculous.

Look at what Wake did with him (consistently in the top 10) and what they did without him.

And I'm not saying we're make or break without Chris Wright...but one player can have a HUGE impact on a team. Think of where we would have been the 4 years before this if Hodge had picked Syracue over us?? We would have picked up some top-75 top-100 recruit that would have more than likely been a role player for us over the years. We probably don't make half the NCAA tournaments without him (and that's being generous).

And it's really funny to see some of you guys who were having multiple orgasms when we got this commitment, and now you're all "he's just one player."

I'm not saying we go back offer Herb 10 mil just to get Chris Wright to come here...but it's still a big ass loss. Spin it any way you want...but this hurts bad. We don't have a pure point guard on our roster and we don't have one coming in (Larry Davis is a combo at best). We don't have Herb and his "positionless" offense anymore. I can bet you any coach we have coming in is going to want a solid point guard here...and we don't have one. Barnes has Gibson at Texas, Wright has like 50 point guards at Nova, Calipari has Washington...all of these big name coaches love their highly touted point guards...and they won't have shit when they get here.

Wake Forest lost more then just one player before going into the crapper... Downey, Levy and Danelius graduating hurt pretty bad.

Chris Wright is far from a pure point guard... but probably more of a point then anything we have next year and yeah, losing him does hurt. However alot could happen before he plays his first game had we lost Herb or not. He could pull an Aaron Holmes and decide to go to a school closer home... or an AJ Price and never play a minute... he could pull a Shakur and become a huge dissapointment.

Not to mention, Chris Wright or any number of point guards still could end up signing with us.

I'm not trying to spin it in any way. It sucks. Still, there's nothing we can do about it now. Wait for a hire, see if he can convince Wright, and if not, then we'll have to find one down the road.

Wright has a lot of potential, but I just don't understand the doom and gloom

I heard its around the $1.8mil/year range

but that might've just been what we wouldve offered to Barnes. but if we had that kind of money to give to Barnes, I'm sure they'd give around the same number for another big name coach.
