I'm just wondering if the bulk of regulations are more geared to reporting income correctly, or protecting investors. I do agree with you that a completely free stock market would be dangerous. But some regulations, such as involving inside trading...might go too far.

Well let's see. Can you give me an example of a monopoly that wasn't somehow allowed by law or influenced by gov't to be permitted?
