StateFansNation found several articles that lead up to the departure of Kruger from Illinois to his hiring at Atlanta. It takes about 10 mins to read everything but I think it does a great job comparing how the Illini fanbase felt about him when he left, (eerily similar to what is happening to us and Herb). One Chicago Tribute journalist even calls out what would happen to Kruger in Atlanta. I suggest everyone take the time to read the post.

in one of those articles they mention how kruger got the program ready for bill self to come in and do great things with it.

in my opinion, herb has already done this job for us. i think we're ready for a bill self guy to come in and win. the job kruger would have done has already been done by herb.

^^^ I think a summary from me would be my opinion on what i have read. The articles lend themselves as info for people who want to know more about Kruger and what you think he could contribute to State. Basically you have four to five differnt blurbs from articles that that discuss what was going on between Kruger, Bill Self, Illinois, the Illini fanbase and the Atlanta Hawks.

^^ I agree, I still feel that Kruger would not be an upgrade from Herb and I still maintain I would rather risk going after an younger or mid-major coach.

i fully supported herb while he was here, but now that he's gone and there's nothing we can do about it, i'd like to see us get a guy with the energy to take us to a new level faster. hopefully we can sustain that as well as herb has sustained our current level.

Now you're going to bring in a guy who has the same personality and coaching style? I don't think so.

We need a young guy who is willing to put it all on the line, who is willing to get fired up every once in a while, and who wants to be here for reasons other than the money.

Whoever we get is NOT going to be better than sendek at this point. They're going to be different, and thats probably the most important thing for our fans right now.
