This is bullshit. We havent had a good football season for almost 4 years now, and we still have fans coming to games. We havent beaten UNC in a god damn sport in almost 3 years, and our fans still show up.

Say what you want, but reserve the "great fan support only when they win" for the fucking holes. Nobody knocked UNC fans back to their holes faster than Doh. We support whoever the fuck we have, we just bitch when we're losing. There's a big difference between fans not supporting the team and fans bitching about a shit program. /rant

You can tell by the fact that Sendek's critics were at the ACC tournament wanting to cheer for us even though they knew we were sucking wind at the end of the season. If we were fair weather fans, they wouldnt have been there. That was my only point.



yeah, we have some of the most vocal fans and lots are obnoxious....but thats different from fair weather, which is the jist I took from that comment in the article.

I left early, but thats just cause they wouldnt let me swear... i watched 7 innings of errors and backwards K's, i was upset. I'll be there next week.

i have only been a state fan for the past couple years and i really dont think the fans are as bad as everyone says they are. i mean i used to referee and coach little league soccer and i have heard parents say some ridiculous shit even though there are kids present. i honestly think that the shit the coaches have been getting could be a LOT worse, considering all the talent we have had and the lack of coaching. i still think we should support our coaches unconditionally while they are here, but i mean they should be able to get over a few bad fans, otherwise they should not be in that coaching position if they dont have enough confidence in themselves to ignore the bad fans.

i am feeling very confident if lavin accepts the offer. he is out to prove UCLA fans wrong if he goes back to coaching. he is going to work his ass off to make sure whatever team he coaches wins. go ahead and quote me on this...if lavin comes we are getting a 20 win season and a NCAA berth, his first year. i dont know about his recruiting skills though, i know he had two #1 classes, but he was recruiting for freaking UCLA...the best fucking basketball school in the nation, i don't know how he'll do with State having somewhat less of a basketball history.

^^^yeah it was ucla but it's not like there's a ton of ***** athletes today that grow up wanting to go to UCLA from day one. now that honor belongs to duke and carolina. ucla is still a top program, but it still takes a solid recruiter to get the kids there.

it'd be interesting to see how many times UCLA has had the #1 class in the nation since lavin's been gone. my guess would be 0. (i realize that's only been probably 2 years of non-lavin recruiting), but it still takes a solid recruiter to get the kids to sign. maybe it would be better to see how many times they had the #1 class prior to lavin coaching there (even as assistant coach).

Everyone still knows about UCLA...but it's mostly west coast kids. You will RARELY see Duke or UNC pull a 5-star basketball player from the West Coast. If you're out west and you're good...you're going to UCLA or Zona.

And Lavin got out there shortly after UCLA won a national championship ('95 I believe). So when he came in, they were pretty well known.
